June 1 is deadline to receive claim cards for 2012 season

| May 22, 2012

VINTON, Iowa (May 21, 2012) – Drivers in all IMCA divisions with the engine claim rule must purchase a 2012 competitor’s license by Friday, June 1 to receive a claim card for the current race season.

The exception is any driver who buys their license after that date and then accepts a legal claim or exchange at a sanctioned event.

“The engine claim or exchange continues to have an important role,” IMCA Vice President of Operations Brett Root said. “But this deadline prevents a driver from buying a license in mid-season, racing once and claiming an engine from another driver who has supported their local track or tracks since the season started.”

“IMCA racers who understand the necessity of the claim rules also deserve protection from unreasonable circumstances,” he added.

Claim/exchange rules are in place for the IMCA Modified, IMCA Sunoco Stock Car, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod and Smiley’s Racing Chassis Southern SportMod divisions.

Crate engines used in the Hobby and both SportMod classes are not subject to claim or exchange.

Root again emphasized that IMCA continues to reserve the right to refuse to issue a claim card and to revoke a claim card or claiming privileges.
