Moon Takes UMP National Points Lead
The season may just be warming up, but at Camp MoonMan things are already red hot. As of week 17, Jim Moon took over claim to the top spot in UMP DirtCAR National Late Models point standings.
With seventeen weeks in the books, there is still plenty of time to add to the points lead but with a tough Summer National schedule anything is still possible. This season Moon has already raced twenty-one UMP point races. Many of those races have been at Belle Clair, Macon, and Quincy Illinois.
This week Moon is holding steady in the track point standings. At Macon and Belle Clair the 1 team is strong, sitting top five at both. At Quincy, the team is in the top ten of points.
The 2012 season has been a complete opposite from 2011. Last season was full of equipment failures and bad luck. This season has been a “dream season” according to Moon. Better luck, strong equipment, and solid support has been key for the more consistent runs.
Moon is still working on his remaining schedule. To preserve the points lead, the team will continue racing every night they can. He is also planning on running a majority of the Summer National races. To keep up with his schedule and news ‘like’ his page, Team MoonMan on facebook.
