Big Ten late models race on Teacher’s Appreciation Night
MACON, Ill. (May 6, 2014) – Teachers receive a free ticket to watch UMP Midwest Big Ten Series late models at Macon Speedway Saturday on Teacher’s Appreciation Night, courtesy of The Teacher’s Lounge.
Macon Speedway will award free admission to all teachers on Saturday, May 10, when Big Ten late models are featured in a full set of racing on the legendary high-banked fifth-mile dirt oval. Teachers just need to show their school ID tag for the free admission.
Mothers will also receive special treatment by Macon Speedway one night before Mother’s Day.
Big Ten late models return to the track after a tense opening weekend last month. After defending series champion Steve Sheppard Jr., won the season opener at Jacksonville (Ill.) the previous night, Ryan Little, of Pleasant Plains, overcame a neck injury to hold off Sheppard for the Big Ten late model win at Macon Speedway.
Heading into the weekend, Sheppard, of New Berlin, leads an even tighter points race over Little with a 118-116 edge. The series will hold 10 events overall at four tracks. Matt Taylor stands third with 110, followed by Greg Kimmons (104) and John Beck (100). The top eight finishes in the 10 races will determine the points champion. Macon Speedway regulars Matt Taylor, John Beck, Roger Brickler and Brian Dively all qualified for the St. Louis U-Pic-A-Part 100 last week to race in the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series main event against the national stars. Beck recently earned his first late model feature win at Macon Speedway.
UMP Billingsley Towing modifieds, sportsman, street stocks, outlaw hornets and stock hornets will also race at Macon Speedway Saturday. Both hornets classes will have double features following a rainout on April 26. Gates open at 5 p.m. and racing starts at 7.
The Teacher’s Lounge is a one-stop shopping experience for all your needs, and it’s located at 2828 N. Main Street, Suite 101 in Decatur. The Teacher’s Lounge will have many surprises in store during the races.
