WINSTON, MO (April 20, 2013) – Starting the evening’s activities was the always entertaining Grand National class.  Don Marrs #9 jumped to an early lead from the pole position and was quickly overtaken by #98 Austin Johnson.  Racing action continued hot and heavy as #71 Travis Walker threaded the needle to wrestle the lead away from Johnson earning him the victory.  Tim Shields in the #42t overcame a back row starting position to at one point challenge for the lead, yet settled for second place and Marrs third.  The two young Johnson brothers battled late, with Austin placing fourth and younger brother #97 Houston Johnson fifth.

A light turnout for the Midwest Lightning Sprints witnessed Bobby Layne #01 drive away with the victory, #20b of Tom Brown second, and the #85x of rookie Matt Hall third.

From green to white to checkered, the IMCA Stock Car division put on a show of technique and finesse.  As the years first two time victor #x9 of Brad Whitney came from a second row starting position to take the lead early and was never challenged as the battle would be from second place on.  Dean Wray #77 and Greg Keuhn #6x wheeled side by side for most of the race with Wray second and Keuhn third respectably.  Racing action continued for fourth and fifth places as #3 Joe Zadina and #88 Jeff Dixon raced each other clean and hard, with Zadina edging Dixon to drive away fourth and Dixon finishing fifth.

Continuing an exciting night of races the IMCA Sport Mods took to the track and would not disappoint any in attendance.  New comer to I-35 Speedway #23jr Nick Roberts picked up a hard fought victory over defending track champion Randy Ainsworth #57 who would finish second.  Jeremy Pittsenbarger #32p was a challenger up front all night and finished third, with #27s Arron Duvall fourth, and Dustin Miller #52m fifth.

Keeping pace with the thrilling racing action the IMCA Hobby Stocks took to the 3/8 mile oval.  “Mr. Burnout” Lee Farmer #17f lived up to his name as he drove his way to the win and treated the crowd by lighting his tires up in victory lane for his first feature victory of the season.  Jamie Songer #96r placed a strong second with Kevin Fee #52 third.  IMCA rookie of the year contender 16 year old Kenny Champ #3 rallied late to a fourth place finish, just nipping #55  Jason Fusselman at the line who finished fifth.

Rounding out the nights events the IMCA Modifieds took to the track in spectacular fashion.  Jesse Sobbing #99 battled side by side with Hunter Marriott #62 until mechanical issues forced Marriott behind the wall for repairs.  Sobbing then drove his way on to victory with Jordan Grabaski #30 driving through the pack to a solid second place finish.  Week two feature winner Jeff James #71j continued his consistent streak with a third place finish.  Late action between #14 Matt Bonine and #19 P.J. Conger witnessed a photo finish at the line with Bonine fourth and Conger fifth.
I-35 would like to thank all of our loyal fans for braving these cold conditions and invite everyone back next Saturday Night for “Dirt Trackin’ at its best”
