Allen, Gould, Hogue are IMCA Modified winners at Abilene’s Ice Breaker
ABILENE, Texas (Feb. 23, 2013) – A dozen feature events resulted in 11 different winners over the course of Abilene Speedway’s Feb. 22-24 Ice Breaker special.
Chase Allen, William Gould and Danny Hogue all raced to $1,000 IMCA Extreme Motor Sports Modified feature victories. Allen won on Friday and Hogue took the Sunday checkers to join Gould on the ballot for the 2013 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational.
J.C. Howell, Cory Davis and Mike McCarthy all collected IMCA Stock Car wins. Chad Hertel took opening night Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center Southern SportMod honors before two-time defending national champion Dean Abbey paced Saturday and Sunday shows.
Another defending champion ruled the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks on Friday as Shannon Anderson was first to the checkers. G.W. Egbert won on Saturday and Kenny Ware ruled the Sunday show.
Features for the Mods, Stocks and SportMods were Texas Lone Star Series events. That tour continues March 2 and 3 at Kennedale Speedway Park.
NASCAR’s Ken Schrader finished 15th, eighth and sixth in the three Modified mains at Abilene.
Car count for the weekend topped 220 and included 66 Modifieds, 60 SportMods, 46 Stock Cars and 23 Hobby Stocks.
