Annett – IMCA Increase Purses for Grass Roots Racers During 2013 Battle at the Barn

DES MOINES, Iowa (January 15, 2013) – Battle at the Barn Promoter, Toby Kruse just commented “I am so excited; news surrounding the Battle at the Barn just keeps growing”. It has just been announced that Des Moines native and NASCAR Nationwide Series star, Michael Annett will not only compete on Friday and Saturday nights, he will increase the winnings for all of those who compete in the paying go-kart classes. Kruse says, “Michael wanted to give back to grass roots racing and what a better place to do that, than in his home town”. Annett will be donating $50 to each heat race winner and $50 to the sixth place driver in the feature events for all paying class of go-karts. Michael said, “It all started here for me and I want to pay it back to the grass root racers who will be racing in Des Moines at the Battle at the Barn”.
Kruse has also confirmed more rewards for the young grass roots racer will be provided by the original grass roots racing organization, the International Motor Contest Association (IMCA). Brett Root, Vice President of Operations of IMCA, has informed Kruse that IMCA will provide a $50 US Savings Bond for each of the feature winners in all of the non-paying children’s classes during the 2013 Battle at the Barn. Root stated, “These kids are the future of racing, the future of IMCA and who knows maybe even future NASCAR stars. IMCA is proud to support their efforts at the beginning stages of their racing careers”.
The 5th Annual Battle at the Barn will take place on Friday and Saturday, January 25th & 26th, 2013. Friday doors will open at 12:00 noon with practice starting at 6:00 pm followed by the $200 to win, 390 clones – NASCAR Challenge. Doors open Saturday at 9:00 am with practice at 11:00 am, heat races at 1:30 pm and feature races starting at 7:00 pm. Two day pit passes are $35, one day pit pass $20. Friday grandstand tickets for adults and children 11 & up will be $5. Saturday grandstand only admission will be $13 with children 10 and under admitted for free. A special two day grandstand ticket will be available for only $15.
