WINSTON, MO (May 25, 2013) – Leading the way into a great night of racing were the Grand Nationals with point leader Bud Wilson #75 picking up yet another feature win.  Hard racing behind the leader saw Austin Johnson #98 hold off a hard charging Marty Powell #9p to place second and Powell would have to settle for the third position. Don Marrs #9 would recover from an early race incident to finish fourth, with young Houston Johnson #97 rounding out the top five.

Continuing to improve their car count the Midwest Lightning Sprints tackled the 3/8 mile of dirt.  No stranger to victory lane Phil Heavelow #44 started second row inside and charged out front to pick up victory number one of the 2013 season. Always fast Gabe Maycock #49m held off last week’s feature winner Beau Heavelow #4 to place second and hold Heavelow to third.  Tom Brown #b20 continued his consistency with a solid fourth and Tony Layne #71 drove home fifth.

The full moon reared its ugly head in a caution filled IMCA Stock Car feature.  When the smoke had settled Gene Stigall #20 was victorious, followed by John Crews #12c a close second.  Point leader Brad Whitney #x9 placed third with #44 Todd Fisher fourth.  Coming from a shotgun starting position Shawn Lee #4d would wind up fifth.

Knowing it would be sooner rather than later Jeremy Pittsenbarger #32p picked up his first feature win in the IMCA Sport Mod class.  Pittsenbarger battled a fast Arron Duvall #27s, who would finish second, and Clint Baker #17x who would race his way to third.  After leading several laps and recovering from a mid-race spin Wes Bestgen #15b would place fourth and Anthony Asher #37 a solid fifth.

With a great field of IMCA Hobby Stock #17f of Lee Farmer started from the pole position and leads every lap on his way to his second victory of 2013, treating the crowd to his usual victory lane burnout.  Newcomer to the track Andrew Burg #78b fought his way to finish second with August Bach #2013 third.  Garrett Eilander #500 raced home fourth and Jamie Songer #96r solidly fifth.

Rounding out Bestgen Night at the Races were the always fast IMCA Modifieds.  In a gallant last turn of the last lap pass witnessed Darren Shaw #11 pick-up victory number two of the season.  Last week’s feature winner Cory Wray #69n placed second with one time leader Jim Cameron #96c third.  Buz Kaster #54 and point leader P.J. Conger #19 would battle almost every lap side by side until the checkers were shown with Kaster fourth and Conger fifth.

I-35 Speedway would like to thank all of our great fans for honoring our armed forces on Memorial Weekend.  We invite everyone back again next weekend for more “Dirt Trackin at its Best”
