Brian Brown Wins the 30 lap MOWA sprint car feature at the 34 Raceway Sept 6th
WEST BURLINGTON, IOWA (September 6, 2014) – Brian Brown (19th car out) set quick time at 13.608 seconds. Dakota Hendrickson (21st) was second quick, followed by Joey Moughan (20th), Dusstin Selvage (11th), Josh Schneiderman (12th), AJ Bruns (9th), Paul Nienhiser (2nd), Ben Wagoner (4th), Jerrod Hull (1st) and Chris Urish (25th). The track was wet enough that the 410’s took three flights of hot laps. Drawing a late number seemed to be an advantage in qualifying.

Urish led the 10-lap distance with Brown in tow. Heats took the top two to the Dash and the top five to the feature. The heats still saw a fast, narrow track.

Hull led the distance. Moughan moved into second on lap six when Blackhurst bobbled. In a duel of 360’s, Schulz held off Mincer for the final transfer.

Wagoner led the 6-lap distance. Hull was running second on lap two when he shot over the turn two cushion. He came back on the track in sixth.

Bunton grabbed the early lead in the 12-lapper over Mincer and Faucon. Datweiler would spin with three laps in, bringing the only caution. Bunton led Mincer, Faucon, Curry and Pohren on the restart. Pohren would shoot to third when the green flag fell as the low side came in. Faucon would work back by him on lap five. Beckinger would make the feature field as an alternate after Nienhiser was unable to start. Dines and Datweiler were added as promoter’s provisionals.

Pohren spun before a lap was completed after contact from another car. Wagoner led the first two laps of the 30-lapper before Pohren spun again with his front-end knocked out. Faucon also stopped and exited with rear-end issues. The restart saw Wagoner leading Brown, Moughan, Weyant and Urish. On lap four, Schneiderman shot under Urish for fifth from row five. On lap ten, Brown found his way under Wagoner in lapped traffic to take the lead. A lap later, Moughan followed him into second, and Schneiderman moved by Weyant for fourth. Schneiderman’s charge would continue as he took third from Wagoner on lap 14, and second from Moughan on lap 16. Blackhurst hit an infield tire and needed the hook with 16 laps down. Brown had two lapped cars between himself and Schneiderman, Moughan, Hull and Wagoner. The same would be true when Bunton spun shortly after the restart. On the green, Brown took off in clean air, while the lapped car of Datweiler got sideway and collected Schneiderman, who got upside down. The team would piece the car together and have him at the rear on the restart. He made a few laps before retiring. Brown took off again with Moughan and Hull in tow. That’s the way the race would end. Bruns moved up six spots to finish fourth, followed by Wagoner, Schulz with a late charge in his Jimmy Davies’ 360, Urish, Selvage, Bunton and Hall in his first run in the Northrop #83. Brown earned $3,000 for the win.

Newberry led the 8-lap distance on a one-lane track. The top two transferred to the Dash and the top five to the feature through the heats.

Quam led the distance. Steward shot from sixth to second on the first lap. M. Krieger slowed to a stop on lap seven and was a scratch for the night.

Johnson led the distance. The lone caution came out for Kautz who slowed to a stop with two laps to go. He was done for the night.

Krieger led throughout ahead of Jamison who shot to second on lap on. Texeira came from the tail to grab third on lap five from George. Schneiderman followed him, and Guernsey snagged the final transfer with two to go.

Steward led Ditsworth and Johnson who came from the third row to third on lap one of the 6-lapper. Ditsworth went up in smoke and exited on lap three. He would be a scratch in the feature.

On the initial start, Haase got over the right rear of the slower Crawford and limped in the pits. Getchell grabbed the early lead over Roth and Wanner. Wanner would grab second from Roth on lap three. Genkinger would work the low side to grab fifth from Crawford with two to go, and Wehrle would grab the final transfer.

Johnson led the 25-lapper early over Steward and R. Jamison. With one lap in, Wilke spun and collected B. Jamison. Both would restart. Steward would ride the cushion to the lead on the restart. Wanner spun to the infield with three laps complete bringing another yellow. Six laps in, Jarrod Schneiderman would flip bringing out the red. Steward led Johnson, R. Jamison, Newberry and Clark back to green. Josh Schneiderman was on the move. He shot into fourth on lap 11 and moved by R. Jamison for third on lap 14. Shortly after, R. Jamison made contact with the lapped car of Genkinger and got into the frontstretch wall. Steward now led Johnson, Josh Schneiderman, Newberry and Schulz. On lap 15, Josh would move into second. Glasgow would come to a stop with 15 laps in. Steward would see open track ahead of him for cautions froma stopped B. Jamison on lap 17 and a fifth running Schulz on lap 19. Josh would finally work by Steward on lap 20 and pull away for the $2,000 win.
