Carter Hemstead, Moyer, Whalen Jr. Win Saturday Night at West Liberty

WEST LIBERTY, IOWA (April 20, 2014) – Racing action resumed here at the West liberty raceway saturday night with the running of the Modified Extravaganza paying 1000 to win for the IMCA Modifieds,and 500 to the IMCA Northern Sport Mods.
32 modifieds were on hand to do battle with twenty four cars starting the twenty five lap a-main. Chriss Zogg grabbed the early lead, and would lead the first four laps before high school senior young Caden Carter would move to the point. Carter, from Oskaloosa, Iowa kept Zogg, Richie Gustin, Jeff Waterman, and Scott Hogan in check through the first several laps. Mark Schulte who started twelfth on the grid replaced Hogan in the fifth slot on lap twelve. The top five cars would remain that way the rest of the race with Carter nailing down the victory. In post race inspection it was determined the two rear tires on Mark Schultes car were illegal thus disqualifying him for the event moving Scott Hogan into that position.
Larry Herring back in action after sitting out a year won the first IMCA Modified heat race, with other heat race wins going to Brandon Banks, Scott Hogan, and Kurt Kile. Kenny Kostenbader, and Mark Schulte posted b-main victories, in the Performance Concepts sponsored IMCA Modified division.
The Kile Motorsports IMCA stock car division saw John Hemstead grab the early lead and lead throughout winning for the first time in 2014. A mixup on the last lap saw positions scramble a little, Hemstead was followed across the line by David Brandies wheeling Josh Woods car in second, 2013 track champion Tad Payne was third, Chris Hinrichs was fourth, with Todd Reitzler fifth Brandon Jay and Todd Reitzler posted heat race wins.
The Weikert Iron and Metal IMCA Northern Sport Mod Feature was won by Austin Moyer once again as he picked up his second win here at the speedway and third overall and pocketed 500 for his afforts. Logan Anderson was second, Aric Becker third, Cody Harris fourth, with Ryan Pace fifth. Logan
Anderson won the lone sport mod heat race.
Bill Whalen Jr. the 2013 IMCA Sport Compact division track champion started the season off by winning the feature at the Marshalltown Speedway on Friday night then topping that win with the win here at West Liberty Saturday night. This was a win that you knew was meant to be as Bill and the late Merv Chandler were very good firends. Jason Klerkdereuss was second, Jordan Walker third, Cody VanDusen fourth, with Bobby Lake fifth. Bobby Lake and Jordan Walker posted heat race wins in the US6 Body Works sponsored IMCA Sport Compact Division.
