Columbus Junction, Iowa (July 25, 2024) – With the Louisa County Fair in full swing, the CJ Speedway hosted a special night of racing, “The Battle on the Levee” posted a huge purse for the competitors thanks to a host of sponsors like Screamer Express and many more who helped make the night a very special night for the drivers.

The final race of the night was the Mincer Ford IMCA Stock Car Feature which saw 20 drivers take the initial green flag. Several visitors who are regarded as the best in the business converged on the Louisa County Fairgrounds to battle it out on the 4/10 mile dirt track known as the CJ Speedway. The track was in great shape and provided plenty of side by side racing. Dustin Vis led for the first two laps before 6th starting Cayden Carter was able to move out front. Carter then had his hands full with multiple challenges coming from 7th starting Damon Murty. The two hot shoes put on quite a battle as the laps wound down.

Murty made one last charge on the final lap but came up less than a car length short of Carter in taking second ahead of the 33 car of Logan Anderson. Unfortunately the 33 car failed to pass tech due to an illegal suspension mount. The DQ elevated Dustin Vis to third ahead of Keegan Wells, who celebrated his 18th Birthday at the track Wednesday night.

The Stewart & Sons Fuel IMCA Modifieds saw track regular and defending track Champion Jarrett Brown defend his home turf by winning the special event on Wednesday night. Brown took the lead early from pole setter and traveler Jonathan Mawhinney from Las Vegas, Nevada. Brown went on to lead flag to flag but was challenged on several occasions by Denny Eckrich. The “flyin 50” of Eckrich was able to close on Brown several times but settled for second in the main event crossing under the checkers ahead of Mawhinney and Brandon Banks.

The Huston Ag IMCA Sportmods provided another very entertaining race with the drivers testing the top of the Levee in turn one lap after lap. John Oliver Jr. scored a hard fought win holding off Dylan VanWyk who was wheeling Will Wolf’s number 7 on Wednesday night. VanWyk used every inch of the track in trying to get by Oliver but Oliver drove a perfect race in capturing the win. Logan Anderson drove his number 53 to a third place finish on Thursday night.

The CJ Auto Parts/NAPA Stores IMCA Hobby Stocks saw Wapello’s Luke Phillips strengthen his point lead with another win at his local track. Phillips out raced the hottest Hobby Stock driver in Eastern Iowa by scoring the win ahead of Nathan Ballard. The 29 of Ballard closed to Phillips rear bumper several times by Phillips was not rattled and held his line in taking the win ahead of Ballard and Cody Staley.

Friday night racing will resume at the CJ Speedway on August 2nd when Troy Mitchell Farm Bureau and Mitchell Arms and Ammo will host the IMCA racing action with hot laps at 7 pm.
