CJ Speedway Set to Open 2024 Race Season, Friday, April 26
Columbus Junction, Iowa: The 2024 racing season at the CJ Speedway located on the Louisa County Fairgrounds in Columbus Junction is about to see the first official green flag of the season. Friday, April 26th will be the first night of the IMCA Point Racing season at the popular 4/10 mile dirt track. Friday night’s racing sponsored by Oveson Recycling & Refuse will host 4 classes of race cars in competition and all classes will be IMCA sanctioned. Modifieds, will headline the program and will be joined by Stock Cars, Sportmods and Hobby Stocks. All drivers will be racing for valuable, Track, Regional and National Points.
The Louisa County Fairboard has hired Dan Keltner to be the Track Manager for the 2024 season. Keltner brings a lengthy background in racing not only as a driver but also as a track official. Keltner stated, “I would like to thank the Louisa County Fairboard for this opportunity and I would really like to thank all the sponsors that have come on board for the 24 season.” Keltner continued “ we have put together a great schedule and we are excited to get the season underway.”
In addition to the weekly point races on Friday nights, the SLMR Late Models will return to the CJ Speedway for the “Tony Stewart Tribute Race” on Friday, June 14th. The Louisa County Fair will host a special night of racing on Thursday, July 25th during the annual Fair. The 2024 season will conclude with the running of the Season Championships on Friday, August 16th.
Friday nights the pit gates will open and welcome competitors at 5:30 pm, the grandstands will welcome our great race fans at 6 pm. Hot laps will take to the track at 7 pm and the first race will be slated to get underway at 7:30 pm.
