Davenport Cheater’s Race to Dominacki …. Again!

DAVENPORT, Ia. (September 8, 2017) – A thrilling Night of Destruction kicked off post-season action at the Davenport Speedway. The evening consisted of Cheater Races, followed by the always-popular Trailer Race.

 

Racers used wings, spoilers, and whatever else to gain advantage in the Cheater Races. And no one is better than the undisputed king, Bob Dominacki. “The Dominator” scored yet another Modified Cheater feature win. Dominacki easily out distanced second place Stephan Kammerer, who was followed by Derrick Carlson in third. Rick Wages finished fourth with Bruce Hanford completing the top five.

 

In Street Stock action, Jesse Owen held off Matt Gilchrist in a late race restart to take home the trophy. Cary Brown finished third. Jeremy Gustaf and Bryan Ritter were fourth and fifth respectively.

 

Brunson Behning dropped down to the SportMod division drove all the way to victory lane. Keith Blum could stay with Behning but could not mount a challenge for the lead. Third went to Kevin Goben over Mike McGarry, Brandon Setser, and Kevin Dickey, in that order.

 

This year’s Trailer Race was epic and came with an abrupt ending with a double-roll over. The last man standing was the race winner, Mike Dunbar in his Snoopy vs Red Barron themed entry.

The Fan Favorite vote went to Mike Hulsing in Tow Mater.

 

The final race of 2017 at the Davenport Speedway will be the Iowa Governor’s Cup on Friday, September 22nd.  The Governor’s Cup is the official stock car championship for the State of Iowa. This year’s event is the 25th running of the Iowa Governor’s Cup.

The featured class will be IMCA Modifieds racing for a $5,000-to win top prize. IMCA SportMods will race for $2,000-to- win and Street Stocks $1,000-to-win. Also racing are the classic looking stock cars of the American Iron Racing Series.
