Davenport Speedway hosts All-Star Classic this Saturday

Deery Brothers Summer Series finale highlights the half-mile racing action

DAVENPORT, Ia. (September 18, 2013) – The 2013 racing season for both the Deery Brtohers Summer Series and the Davenport Speedway will come to an end this Saturday, at the All-Star Classic. The event will be run on Davenport’s historic half-mile dirt oval.

Saturday’s Deery Brothers race will be a homecoming for the top two drivers in the point standings. Davenport native Brian Harris has led the Deery point standings for several months. Second in points, Justin Kay of Wheatland, won the IMCA Late Model National Championship, the Davenport Speedway track championship, and the Deery Brothers July race at Davenport. Harris has five Deery victories this season, while Kay has three wins.

This is the third year for the All-Star Classic at the Davenport Speedway. The last two Deery Brothers Summer Series champions were also same year winners at the All-Star Classic. Jeff Aikey of Cedar Falls, won last year. Ray Guss Jr. of Milan, Ill., won in 2011.

Also racing on the half-mile will be IMCA Modifieds, Street Stocks, IMCA SportMods, and 4-Stocks.

The Davenport Speedway is located at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds, on West Locust Street in Davenport, Iowa. Pit gates open at 4:30pm, the grandstand at 5:00pm, with hotlaps at 6:30 and racing at 7:00pm.
