Deery Series, $2000-to-win Stock Cars in Independence Sept. 20

INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (September 12, 2013) – The 2013 season at Independence Motor Speedway will come to a close Friday, Sept. 20 with the second visit of the season by the Deery Brothers Summer Series for IMCA Late Models.

In addition to the $3,000-to-win feature, a special non-qualifiers feature paying $500-to-win will be part of the program. The Sept. 20 event is the last stop before the series finale the following night at Davenport Speedway

A field of 33 Late Models signed in for the series’ first stop in Independence this season on July 2 when Justin Kay earned his career first series win.

Stock Cars will also be competing for a $2,000 winner’s share during the Sept. 20 season finale. The use of either Hoosier or American Racer tires will be permitted, however no tire grooving will be allowed. Those running an unlimited cubic inch engine must use an unaltered 350 cfm carburetor. The weight rule is 2,900 Lbs. for the Stock Cars. There is no chip rule. All other IMCA rules will be enforced, however an IMCA license is not required to compete.

Grandstand admission is $15 for adults and $12 for seniors and students 11-17. Kids 10 and under will be admitted free if accompanying a paid adult. Pit passes are $30.

Gates open at 5 p.m. Sept. 20, with hot laps scheduled for 7 and racing to follow.
