Deery Series opens this weekend at Davenport, West Liberty
DAVENPORT, Iowa (April 8) – A pair of $3,000 to win features and forecasts for much more spring-like weather are in the works this weekend for the Deery Brothers Summer Series.
The 28th annual IMCA Late Model tour opens Friday, April 11 at Davenport Speedway. Night two of the twinbill is Saturday, April 12 at West Liberty Raceway. Both main events pay a minimum of $300 to start.
Pit gates open at 4 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. at Davenport. Hot laps are at 6:30 p.m. and racing starts at 7 p.m., with IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods, street stocks and 4-stocks completing the program.

West Liberty opens the pit gates at 4:30 p.m. and the grandstand at 5 p.m. Racing follows 6:30 p.m. hot laps. Also on the card are IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods.

Eventual champion Brian Harris equaled the Deery Series record of four straight feature wins when he took the checkers at West Liberty last June. Justin Kay won the July event en route to runner-up honors.
Feature winners at Davenport in 2013 were Kay and Jeff Aikey. The victory by Aikey was his series career-leading 61st.
One more series doubleheader is on the schedule before the start of the weekly point season for IMCA Late Models. Deery drivers travel to Farley Speedway on Friday, April 18 and to Jackson County Speedway at Maquoketa on Saturday, April 19.
