Dirt Duel Night 2
Stuart, IA (June 2) – One hundred fourteen cars in four divisions packed the pits at Stuart Speedway for night two of the 2020 Dynamic Drivelines Dirt Duel sponsored by Midstate Machine, Sniper Speed and Country Kitchen of Stuart.
MADCRA Mod Lites were in town for a 20 lap feature and it was Craig Davidson and Cory Sonner on the front row. Josh May shot to the lead early and showed the way for the majority of the race, but after a rash of cautions it was Tanner Gannon making the right moves on a green-white-checkered restart to take the win. Mike Morrill, Randy Bryan, Kaden Cochran and May rounded out the top five with Sonner, Bryan and May taking the heat race wins.
IMCA Sport Compacts were up next with Ashton Blain and Ryan Brown on the front row. Chris and Bryan Vannausdle made it a family affair at the front until Kolby Sabin broke up the party with two laps to go. Sabin looked to take the win, but it was Chris Vannausdle with the last lap move in turn three to get the victory. Sabin settled for second with Bryan Vannausdle third, Mitchell Bunch fourth and Blain fifth. Bryan Vannausdle and Bunch were the heat race winners.
Qualifying for Wednesday’s 50 lap IMCA Northern SportMod feature was set by four heats and two B-features. Brayton Carter and Colby Langenberg brought the field to life with Carter taking control early. Cautions bunched the field up a few times, but Carter was up to the challenge each time and went on to the win. Carter, Brian Osantowski, Colby Fett and Johnathon Logue were the four cars that locked into Wednesday’s big show with their top four finish. Carter, Josh Most, Colby Fett and Logue were the heat race winners with Garrett Nelson and Tyler Nerud taking the B-feature wins.
IMCA Stock Cars followed the same exact format as the SportMods with Todd VanEaton and Joe Zrostlik on the front row. VanEaton took control on the bottom side of the track and never looked back, taking the flag to flag caution free win. Troy Jerovetz, Dallon Murty and Derek Green rounded out the top four and those drivers will make up the outside of the front four rows for Wednesday’s big feature. Derek Green, John Oliver Jr, Dallon Murty and Josh Daniels were the heat race winners with Leah Wroten and Shawn Ritter taking the wins in the B-features.
