Four New Winners And 2 Repeat Winners at Bethany Speedway

| July 20, 2020

Again, a great car count filed into the pit area at Bethany Speedway Saturday night. And fans were treated to an unpredictable and exciting night of racing. Four new winners out of the six classes. More new drivers and still some of the best racing you will see anywhere around.

As the features started to roll out on the track, the Emod class was up first. 22 Emod cars scheduled to start the A feature. From the drop of the green flag, #55j Josh Marshall, jumped to the point. Marshall led while several drivers jockied for position 2 thru 7. #73 Justin Asher and #5k Keith Simmons would stay, almost attached at the bumpers and work themselves to the top five. On a late restart #54 Chris Dishong looked like he had a run at second while #28 Shawn Burns quietly started battling for a top five. When the checkered flew, Marshall picked up his first win a Bethany Speedway.. Asher held on to second with Simmons third. Dishong was fourth and Burns cracked the top five with a fifth place finish.

The Pure Stocks were 13 strong when the green came out. #03 Jimmy Smith, in his second appearance at Bethany Speedway took to the lead and brought #91 Jack Turner with him to second. They would run 12 laps, caution free, within 5 car lengths of each other. #38 Nick James got close enough to challenge for second for a couple laps early. But Smith would hold on for his first feature win at Bethany. Turner and James were second and third. #11s Tyler Starmer finished fourth while #18k Kasey Ayres took his time to stay smooth and clean and stay in control of the points lead with a fifth place finish.

Four IMCA RaceSaver Sprint cars checked in the pits. #92J JR Topper found his way to the front and led all the laps of a green to checkered race to pick up his first win at Bethany. #19 Dustin Reeh was second. #55 Kenny Potter third and #38 Austin Couch fourth.

The IMCA Sportmod class was another caution free race. #66x Chris Wright and #211 Tim Eaton shot to one and two. They would spend the entire race with Wright in front and Eaton within a single car length and sometimes poking his nose to the inside. #112 Koby Rigsby was up and down as he was nearly side by side for second at one time to only be shuffled back to sixth and then start gaining again. Under the white flag Wright had the lead. Heading into turn #3 Eaton drove to the inside with a lapped car outside of Wright, Wright would be the meat in the sandwich. Contact was made between the three and Wright ended up with a right front flat. Eaton picked up his first win at Bethany this year with Wright second. #007 Zach Nitsch was third with Rigsby fourth and #75x Randy Smith Jr fifth.

Sixteen IMCA Stock Cars lined up for the feature. On lap 2 #20x Carson Masoner would go for a ride as the right rear tire grabbed and barrel rolled him in turn two. Masoner was ok. #26 Anthony Whitham and #65 Thomas Roberts had taken the top two spots. Whitham would lead for a couple laps until Roberts wanted control of the feature. #34x Mich Ross worked high and low but could never clear Roberts. #11s Steve Starmer saw all that in front of him and found his line. He would drive around both of them on the outside and to the lead. #11 Danny Holt would make some nice gains to put himself in contention. But at the checkered nobody had anything for Starmer as he picked up his second straight feature win. Ross would eventually work his way into second with Roberts third. Holt was fourth and the only other Stock Car feature winner so far this year, #46 JJ Baumli, in fifth.

The IMCA Modified were also sixteen strong at the drop of the green flag. #81J Jacob Blair took the point over #52m Dustin Miller. They would battle for a handful of laps until a yellow came out. #77 Steven Bowers Jr has been on absolute tear the last few weeks. On the restart Bowers would drive around both of them to the lead. #7 Shayne Bailey would follow Bowers to the front as Blair fell out of contention and to the pits. Bowers would pick up another win at Bethany Speedway with Bailey and Miller in tow and finishing second and third. #7D Danny Holt and #37 Jeremiah Asher both started outside the top ten but would have nice runs to finish fourth and fifth.

This Saturday will be the second Saturday of three straight with racing at Bethany Speedway. Now is the time to come watch the best and most competitve racing in the area with covered grandstands, huge, clean bathrooms, adult beverages and Sweet Baby B’s food truck supplying all kinds of great food. No fighting or any problems. Just some good ole fashioned Saturday night circle track racing this Saaturday, July 25th.
