Four Repeat Winners at QC Speedway

EAST MOLINE, IL (May 13, 2012) – On a beautiful Mother’s Day evening four drivers found themselves in victory for the second time in the 2012 season.
In the best race of the night, 2010 & 2011 IMCA National Champion, Ray Guss Jr. battled with another former IMCA National Champion, Rob Toland for the first 14 laps before taking over the lead and checking out to win the 30 lap Sexton Ford main event. Mike Murphy Jr. would finish second, after starting ninth, followed by Mike Zemo Jr., Toland, and Nate Beuseling.
Rock Island’s Ron Marks Jr. returned to victory lane in the Extreme Auto Glass Street Stocks feature after holding off early challenges from Rick Schriner, Korey Peterson, and Chuck Fox and a late challenge from a hard charging Rob Henry, who started the feature ninth. After Henry in second it was Schriner, Chris Lawrence, and Fox rounding out the top five.
The Orion Tire Repair IMCA Modifieds also had a repeat winner, as Greg Durbin piloted his #8 car from the sixth starting spot to the winner’s circle. Brandon Durbin was able to get by last week’s feature winner Jason Bahrs on the last lap for second. Mike Fluegel and Eric Barnes completed the top five.
The Verplaetse Excavating A-Modifieds Big 8 Racing Series, presented by Fikes Truck Line, returned to QCS for a 20 lap feature event. Moline’s John Bull proved to be too strong as he led every lap, holding last week’s winner Ryan Dolan, in route to a $700 payday. After Dolan it was Scott Fridley, Brandon Durbin, and Jerry Bailey Jr. making up the top five.
In the Aaron’s Affordable Towing 4 Cylinders Rock Falls’ Camron Poci picked up the first feature win of his young career. Poci was able to make the pass for the lead on lap 5 and go onto lead the rest of the race. Brandon Dahl came from ninth to finished second followed by Wade Dahl, Zachary Dahl, and Dustin Forbes.
Racing returns to the Quad City Speedway in East Moline next Sunday with a complete weekly racing program plus Mod Lites. Gates open at 3:30pm with Racing at 5:30pm
