Gilpin Grabs Summit Racing Modified Nationals Opener at Brownstown

BROWNSTOWN, IND ( June 13, 2012) – Current DIRTcar UMP Modified point leader Devin Gilpin of nearby Columbus, Ind., cruised to victory during the first night of Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals competition at Brownstown Speedway Wednesday night capturing the $800 top prize.

A native Hoosier, Gilpin bested a field of stout competition that saw fellow Indiana drivers Matt Boknecht of Seymour and Richie Lex of Morgantown make it clean sweep of the podium. NASCAR standout Kenny Wallace of Concord, N.C., would finish fourth with yet another home state driver in Edinburgh, Ind. pilot Joe Godsey rounding out the top five.

The DIRTcar Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals will make its next stop Thursday at Kankakee County Speedway in Kankakee, Ill., where driver NASCAR veteran Ken Schrader of Concord, N.C., won last year’s event.
