Hamilton County Speedway hosts June 4 Deery, Hawkeye Dirt Tour doubleheader
WEBSTER CITY, Iowa (May 29) – Two IMCA series make much anticipated returns to Hamilton County Speedway for a Tuesday, June 4 doubleheader.
The Deery Brothers Summer Series for IMCA Late Models is in town for a $3,000 to win, minimum $300 to start event. The feature for Karl Performance Hawkeye Dirt Tour for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds pays $1,000 to win and a minimum of $150 to start.
Pit gates open at 5:30 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 6 p.m. Hot laps are at 7 p.m. and racing starts at 7:30 p.m.
Grandstand admission is $15 for adults, $13 for seniors and $10 for students, with kids five and under admitted free. Pit passes are $30.
While the Late Model series has made 26 previous visits dating back to 1987, the tour hasn’t been to Webster City since 2006. Most recently, the Deery date there in April of 2012 was rained out and could not be rescheduled.
Seven-time and defending series champion Jeff Aikey of Cedar Falls earned half a dozen of his Deery career-best 58 checkers at Hamilton County. Current point leader Brian Harris of Davenport was the winner there in 2005.
A single Hawkeye Dirt Tour event has been held in Webster City, with Jeremy Mills of Garner getting the win last June 5.
Tuesday’s Modified feature is also a qualifying event for the 2013 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot.
Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods also run for $400 to win and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks for $300 to win at Webster City. Both divisions will use the draw/redraw format.
Another special series twinbill is next on the schedule when Deery and Hawkeye Dirt Tour drivers head to Cedar County Raceway at Tipton for a Tuesday, June 11 show.
