Hilmer, Stofer and Irvine Take Firsts on Karl Performance and Casey’s Night

Marshalltown, Iowa (July 3rd, 2015) – After Mother Nature won last week it was back to normal business at the Marshalltown Speedway for Karl Performance and Casey’s General Stores Night. 87 cars signed in to tame the quarter mile oval on Friday Night.
Curt Hilmer (IMCA Northern SportMods), Robert Stofer (IMCA Stock Cars) and Brian Irvine (IMCA Modifieds) picked up their first wins at Marshalltown meanwhile Josh May (Mod Lites) and Eric Stanton (IMCA Hobby Stocks) make return visits.
Jason Whitehead grabbed the early lead in the Mod Lites 15 lap feature event. Joe Glick took the lead away on lap three but that was short lived as it was Charlie Brown leading lap four. Josh May worked his way from ninth to the lead on lap five just before a caution for Tanner Gottman in turn two. May held on to take the win over Travis Stensland, Randy Bryan, Cory Sauerman and Terry Brown.
Neil Follett started inside row two but by the end of lap one in the IMCA Northern SportMods 18 lap feature, Follett found the lead. Just after the caution came out for debris in turn two. Follett continued to lead despite challenges from Jayme Duinink and Sam Wieben. Jared Van Deest started ninth and moved into second on lap eight. Van Deest chase down Follett took the lead away just before the final race caution on lap ten. Van Deest was now in store for an intense side-by-side battle with Curt Hilmer. Hilmer nosed to the lead on lap 13. Hilmer took the win with Van Deest finishing second, Brandon Williams worked his way back up to finish third. Travis Peterson and Follett round out the top five.
After a pair of cautions before a single lap was completed in the Toby K’s Hideaway IMCA Hobby Stocks 15 lap feature event, it was Leah Wroten led the opening lap. Garrett Eilander took the lead away on lap two but Eric Stanton worked his way through field and found himself in the lead by lap four. The caution came out on lap four and five for debris but it was Stanton pacing the way. Stanton went on to take his 3rd win at Motown. Justin Wacha moved up ten spots to finish 2nd. Austin Luellen finished 3rd, Dustin Elliott was 4th and Eilander was 5th.
Robert Stofer started on the pole of the Miller Lite IMCA Stock Cars 18 lap feature and not even caution flags could slow him down or deny him the victory, Stofer had several challenges from Tyler Pickett and Steve Meyer. Stofer took the win ahead of Meyer, Trent Murphy, Dave Atcher and Michael Jaennette.
Joel Bushore led the first two laps in the Coors Light IMCA Modifieds feature before a caution came out twice on lap two. On the restart, Brian Irvine got a great restart and manage to take the lead away on lap three. Irvine built up a large lead and went on to take the easy win over Jimmy Gustin, Scott Simatovich, Josh Gilman and Ronn Laurtizen.
Next Friday Night it will be Central Iowa Farm Stores Night at the Central Iowa Fair. All five weekly classes will be in competition plus Kids are reminded to bring their Bikes for Bike Races. Hot Laps at 6:50pm and Racing at 7:30pm.
