I-35 Speedway June 15 Race Recap
WINSTON, MO (June 15, 2024)Another action-packed Saturday night is behind us at I-35 Speedway, with a few first-time winners and a $2,120 grand prize winner in the Medieval USRA Stock Car Division. Last night was the Molle Auto Group Mike Tanner Finish Strong Memorial Stock Car Special with all regular weekly classes in action as well. This event is held in honor of the driver and man who made number 20 famous at I-35 Speedway and then around the racing world! The “Finish Strong Foundation” is a local 501(c)3 that supports young athletes in their competitive sports when illness, injury, death, or other unexpected traumatic event affects families financially.
Kristchon Hisel in his Medieval Stock Car number 20 took home the grand prize and his first win of the season. Points leader Nic Hanes was involved in a last lap incident in turn one, two bad breaks of luck after dominating the first eight weeks. Hisel led all 25 laps of the Finish Strong Mike Tanner Memorial with continual pressure from Chris Dishong and Doug Keller. As the laps were winding the down the emotion from the crowd cheering on Kristchon was deafening.
In the USRA Modifieds Tyler Hibner won his seventh feature of the season holding off some hard charging competition in Houston Johnson and Lee Hibner. Tyler Hibner also won his third Midwest Limited Late Models feature as that division made it’s return after a few weeks’ hiatus.
Ethan Isaacs dominated the B Mods, winning his first feature in his first start at I-35 Speedway this year. Jeff Goepferich Jr. won his inaugural Pure Stock start this season as well with points leader James “Bubba” Silkwood continuing his streak of top five finishes. E Mod points leader Kameron Hanes won his sixth feature to build his lead over second place Michael Haschall, who sits 70 points behind him. In the Sports Compacts points leader David Miller wins his third feature of the year while holding off Scott Beagle in the closing laps. Finally, in Junior Sport Compacts it was business as usual as Grant Sheetz wins his ninth feature of the year, but still sits 55 points behind Emma Mather in the standings.
Thank you to drivers, crew, and fans for participating in these races weekly and a special thank you to Chrystal Tanner and the Finish Strong Foundation for their giveaways. Thank you to all the sponsors who make it possible. We were able to miss the weather around the area, get a full show in, give money to a good cause, and have fun while doing it. The full results are posted below and we will see you all next week!
