IMCA Mod Madness this Friday at Davenport Speedway
DAVENPORT, Ia. (May 16, 2018) – IMCA Mod Madness returns to the Davenport Speedway on Friday, May 18th. The top IMCA Modified drivers in the area, will be racing for the $2,000 prize awaits the winner of the 50-lap main event.
This is the eighth straight year DRT TRAK Racing Inc. has offered a $2,000-to-win race for the modifieds. Darin Duffy of Urbana, Iowa, is the defending champion and the only two-time winner of the event.
Over the seven previous Mod Madness events, we’ve seen a number of scenarios play out: last-lap passes, classic bump and run moves, and drivers coming from the back of the pack to win. Over one hundred racers have competed in Mod Madness, representing eight different states.
Six of the races have been won by Iowa racers. Colona, Illinois driver Milo Veloz Jr., has the only out-of-state win.
The IMCA Modifieds will use a draw/redraw format for the event. All racing will be on the quarter-mile dirt oval.
Also racing will be the Petersen Plumbing & Heating IMCA Late Models, Koehler Electric Street Stocks, and the Hawkeye Auto IMCA SportMods, competing for weekly track points.
Tickets for IMCA Mod Madness are $15 for adults, $13 for students and seniors, under 12 are free. Pit passes are $30. Entry fee for IMCA Modifieds is $50.
The Davenport Speedway is located at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds, on West Locust Street in Davenport, Iowa. Hotlaps start at 5:45pm with racing to follow.
