| March 29, 2013

DES MOINES, Iowa (March 29) – The first of four consecutive Frostbuster specials will be held Thursday, April 4 at the Iowa State Fairgrounds Speedway in Des Moines.

IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified features will also pay $1,000 to win at season-opening Frostbusters on Friday, April 5 at Marshalltown Speedway; Saturday, April 6 at Boone Speedway; and Sunday, April 7 at Benton County Speedway in Vinton.

Each Modified event is a qualifier for the 2013 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. Temperatures forecast as high as the mid-50s this weekend will help considerably in getting the track surface at all four facilities race-ready.

IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars run for $500 to win, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods for $400 and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks for $250 each night. Mach-1 Sport Compact are also on the Sunday card at Vinton.

IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing national, regional and Allstar Performance Iowa state points will be given at all four shows.

Entry fees each night are $30 for Modifieds, $25 for Stock Cars and $20 for SportMods and for Hobby Stocks. Pit passes are $25.

Gates open at 4 p.m., the grandstand opens at 5 p.m., hot laps are at 6:15 p.m. and racing begins at 7 p.m. at both Des Moines and Marshalltown.

Boone opens the pit gates at 2 p.m. with hot laps at 4 p.m. and racing at 5 p.m. Gates and the grandstand at Vinton open at 3 p.m. Hot laps are at 4 p.m. and racing starts at 4:30 p.m.

One-way radio receivers, NitroBee or RACEceivers, are required in each division at all four tracks.

More information about the respective Frostbusters is available from Iowa State Fairgrounds and Benton County promoter Mick Trier at 515 201-5526, Marshalltown promoter Toby Kruse at 515 432-4703 and Boone promoter Robert Lawton at 515 987-1220.

The regular point season starts April 12 at Des Moines and at Marshalltown, April 13 at Boone and April 14 at Vinton.

New dirt and wet conditions forced postponement of the Frostbuster at Southern Iowa Speedway from April 3 to April 10. Track points will also be awarded to Modifieds, Stock Cars, Hobby Stocks and Northern SportMods that evening, with Sport Compacts seeing their first sanctioned action on April 17.
