DONNELLSON, IOWA (June 6, 2014) – It was a full house at Lee County Speedway with Bacerra, Qriffiths, Gillenwater, Marriott and Cook each picking up a wins!
The Lee County Speedway was the place to be last night and Conn Communications night failed to disappoint. Lots of prizes were given away, 2 bikes were given a…way by Cossil Motorsports, great racing action was seen by the 1300+ crowd, and a few spectators took to track to try their stuff. Austen Becerra took the easy win in the sport compacts followed by Barry Taft, Kimberly Abbott, and Dustin Ravelin. The hobby stocks at the Lee County Speedway have to the most evenly matched you are going to see at any race track. Any night any one of them can take the win. Dustin Griffiths took the hard fought win over 2013 track champion Jason See for a close 2nd, Mike Kincaid 3rd, and Travis Bunnell 4th.
When the sport mods take to the track you know their probably isn’t going to be any yellows or at least not very many in 2014. Friday night the fans saw Jim Gillenwater power his way to the front with a hard fought battle from 2nd place Bobby Anders, points leader Tony Dunker in 3rd, and Chris Larson in 4th.
When the Modifieds took to the track you could see why Hunter Marriott drives almost 200 miles on Friday nights to race at his favorite track. Hunter cruised to a smooth win with Bill Roberts jr. In 2nd, Brandon Banks in 3rd, and Cayden Carter in 4th.
As in all the classes we see 3 and 4 wide racing all night but the stock cars like to do it for 20 laps every lap. If you have a week heart being at the Lee County Speedway is not the place to be to watch the stock cars. This class you never know who is going to win until the checkered flag flies. Jason Cook held off many challenges from 2nd place Abe Huls, 3rd place Derrick Agee in his first appearance at the speedway, and Corey Strothman in 4th running the high side.
Some interesting points battles are taking place. In the Modifieds Jeff Waterman holds a 1 point lead over Brandon Banks and 7 points over Jeff Mueller. The stock cars their are 6 cars with only 24 points separating them.
Next Friday night is what the fans have been asking for a long time. The Lucas Oil MLRA Late Models will take to the speedway with all of our weekly classes. Many of the drivers that will be in attendance are at the top of field in Eldora, Ohio this weekend. It going to be a show you won’t want to miss. A 40 lap feature is in store for the Late Models with $5000 possible to win.
