Johnsonville Brat Night At Lakeside Promises Plenty of Action
KANSAS CITY, KS (June 19, 2012) – Friday, June 22, is Johnsonville Brat Night at the races promises to be action packed.
Fans will get another great dose of the Metro Sports live broadcast of the races, the action on the speedway itself and the ‘King of The Dotte’ will be crowned.
What is the ‘King of the Dotte?’
‘King of the Dotte’ is a Johnsonville Sausage Bratwurst Speed Eating Contest presented by InThePits.Net. Five finalists have been chosen and the winner will be the one that can eat 1.5 pounds of brats in the least amount of time! The contest will be held during intermission at Friday’s race.
Jim Moody ended the domination of the Skyrocket Chassis as he took home the win in the Modified division. Moody won at Lakeside in just his 2nd trip this season. If he continues to come back he might pull down some more wins.
Tim Karrick maintained his points lead in the division by finishing in 2nd place. Karrick’s 4 wins on the season have him sitting in the comfortably in the top spot.
Gary Donaldson won his heat race last week, but then never made it out for the feature after hurting his engine in the heat race. This put the 5x feature winner on the shelf. Kelby Ostrander took full advantage of Donaldson’s misfortune.
Ostrander led from start to finish on the way to his 2nd win of the season. The win also vaulted Ostrander into the top spot in the Grand National points standings.
In the B Mod A Main Nick Newton won the battle after a lenghty brawl with Aaron Marrant. It was the first time this season that Newton won without having to gain the lead on the last lap. In gaining his 3rd win Newton stands on top of the standings in the first half of the season.
Controversy surrounded the Factory Stock Feature event. Bobby Tavis III was the first one to the checkered flag in the race, but we have always said that doesn’t mean that you have won the race yet. The top 5 have to go through a post-race tech inspection. When Tavis entered the tech area, he was flagged for an infraction and it handed the win over to Justin Seifert.
Seifert inherited the win. It would be his 2nd win of the season and it gave him the points lead in the Factory Stock division. The points race in this class has the smallest margin at Lakeside Speedway.
Metro Sports will be on hand again this week to broadcast the races in their entirety. Fans are urged to come out and show their support for their favorite drivers. During the first few broadcasts we have seen fans with signs, wearing drivers shirts and displaying just how pationate they are about dirt track racing.
Spectator gates open up at 5:00 p.m., hot laps are at 6:45 p.m. and the first race goes green at 7:30 p.m.
Adult tickets are $12, kids 8 to 14 are $6 and children 7 and under are always FREE at Lakeside Speedway.
