JR Motorsports Hawkeye Dirt Tour headlines Memorial Day show at I-35
MASON CITY, Iowa (May 21) – What has become a holiday racing tradition returns to the Memorial Day schedule at I-35 Speedway, when the JR Motorsports Hawkeye Dirt Tour comes to town.
IMCA Modifieds headline the Monday, May 28 event at Mason City, racing for $1,000 to win and a minimum of $150 to start their special series feature.
Also on the card are IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods. All applicable points will be awarded in the four sanctioned divisions.
Pit gates open at 4 p.m. and the grandstand opens at: 5 p.m. The drivers’ meeting is at 5:45 p.m. with hot laps at 6 p.m. and racing to follow.
Spectator admission is $15 for adults, $5 for kids ages 6-12 and free for youngsters five and under. Pit passes are $25.
The Modified feature is a qualifying event for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot, as is Sunday’s Skip Rose Memorial at I-35.

Richie Gustin of Gilman was the winner when the Hawkeye Dirt Tour made its first appearance at Mason City in 2010. Josh Ruby of Lakota prevailed in the 2011 event.
Jeff Waterman of Quincy, Ill., one of the drivers featured in the Fuel The Thunder 2 series documentary, won the tour opener May 8 at Benton County Speedway and brings the point lead to Mason City.
