July 12 program rained out at Independence Motor Speedway
INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (July 12) – With the first race of the evening on the track, rain washed out the July 12 program at Independence Motor Speedway.
The event, billed as the eighth annual Dick Frye Memorial, was also scheduled to include make-up mid-season championship features for the IMCA Late Model, IMCA Hobby Stock and IMCA Northern SportMod divisions. It included the Showcase Saturday for the regularly scheduled IMCA Hobby Stock feature, as well.
The entire program has been postponed to Saturday, July 26.
The next event at the speedway is this Wednesday, July 16, when racing action kicks off the 2014 Buchanan County Fair. IMCA sanctioned Stock Cars, Hobby Stocks and Northern SportMods will compete, along with the Micro Mod division.
There are no entry fees, however drivers in the IMCA sanctioned divisions must have a 2014 membership license for the division in which they wish to compete.
July 16 grandstand admission is $8 for adults and $5 for seniors and students. Kids 11 and under will be admitted free if accompanying a paid adult. Pit passes are $25. Gates open at 5 p.m. with hot laps at 7 and racing to follow.
Pit pass rain checks from the July 12 rainout will be honored at the July 16 fair race or at either of the next two weekly programs – Saturday, July 26 or Saturday, August 2. Grandstand rain checks from July 12 will be honored at either of the next two weekly programs.
Individuals must present their ticket stub or pit pass from the July 12 rainout to gain admission on those dates or they will be required to purchase a new ticket at the gate.
No racing is scheduled next Saturday, July 19. Country music star Chris Cagle will take center stage that evening to headline grandstand entertainment during the fair.
Thursday, July 24 will mark the return of the World of Outlaws Late Model Series and XSAN Hawkeye Dirt Tour for IMCA Modifieds.
Grandstand admission for the July 24 special is $30. Ages 10 and under will be admitted free if accompanying a paid adult. Pit passes are $35, however Modified drivers competing that evening will receive free pit admission for the event.
Gates open at 4 p.m. July 24, with hot laps at 6:45 and Late Model qualifying to follow.
