DAVENPORT, Ia. (June 5, 2013) – With Summer fast approaching, it’s time for the Davenport Speedway to shift into high gear. The four Fridays in the month of June will be packed with high-speed racing action and special attractions. Hopefully, the calendar change will also bring more sunshine to the speedway.

The racetrack has been hampered by weather woes throughout the early part of the 2013 schedule. Five of the nine scheduled events have been lost to rain and wet conditions, so far this year.

On Friday, June 7th, the Davenport Speedway will be visited by the Midwest Jalopies.  The vintage racing coupes that raced at tracks across the Midwest, more than fifty years ago, will roar to life once more on the quarter-mile dirt oval. All five of our weekly classes Petersen Plumbing and Heating IMCA Late Models, EMS IMCA Modifieds, Koehler Electric Street Stocks, Hawkeye Auto IMCA SportMods, and the Roto-Rooter 4-Stock division, will also be in action.

Friday, June 14th, is the time for the IMCA SportMods to take the spotlight.  A $2,000 payday awaits the winner of the IMCA SportMod 50 at the Davenport Speedway. The expanded purse is expected to draw the top SportMod drivers from across the region. 2013 is the first season the IMCA SportMod class has competed at the Davenport Speedway.

Believe it or not, Friday June 21st, is the Mid-Season Championships, sponsored by Kile Motorsports. All classes will use a draw-redraw format, with a Back Row Challenge available to the point leaders in each class.

Friday, June 28th is Kid’s Night at the Davenport Speedway, presented by Monkey Joe’s. Children 12 and under receive free admission with a paid adult. Weekly point races will be held in all five classes.

The Davenport Speedway is located at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds, on West Locust Street in Davenport, Iowa. Pit gates will open Friday at 4:30pm, the grandstand at 5:00pm, with hotlaps at 6:30 and racing at 7:00pm.
