Kyle Busch wins wreck-filled Prelude to the Dream
ROSSBURG, Ohio (June 6) – Kyle Busch stayed out of trouble to win fellow NASCAR Sprint Cup driver Tony Stewart’s dirt-track charity race Wednesday night at Eldora Speedway.
Kasey Kahne was leading until he hit Bobby Labonte in Turn 3 after Labonte spun out. Busch was running second at the time, and he took advantage for his first Prelude victory after four top-five finishes. Stewart, the defending Sprint Cup champion, finished second.
Austin Dillon, Donny Schatz and Ryan Newman completed the top five.
Aric Almirola was sixth, followed by Cruz Pedregon, Dave Blaney, Ty Dillon and Justin Allgaier.
Five-time Cup champion Jimmie Johnson finished 11th, and Danica Patrick was15th in her dirt-track debut. Kurt Busch was scored last (26th) after he couldn’t start the feature following damage to his No. 51 in a heat race.
Twenty-six drivers, including 14 from the Sprint Cup Series, competed in late-model stock cars in the 40-lap event that benefited Feed The Children with the net proceeds from the HBO pay-per-view telecast. Feed The Children also will send a food truck to the hometown or a city of choice of the top-10 finishers. The event has raised more than $3.5 million for various charities since its inception in 2005.
