by Brian Neal
Donnellson, IA (Thursday, March 26, 2015) – Mother nature strikes again today. As the Lee County Speedway in Donnellson, Iowa is forced to adjust the schedule once again for this weekend’s “3rd Annual Spring Extravaganza”presented by Midwest Performance & Power of Keokuk, Iowa. It will now be a one day show to be ran on Sunday, March 29th.
The event started out to be a two day show on Friday and Saturday, then was moved to a Saturday and Sunday show on Wednesday. But with all the rains that moved through the area on Tuesday and Wednesday the grounds are to wet to do anything with. Plus is doesn’t help with frigid temperatures forecasted for Friday and Saturday night.
Sunday, March 29th will kick off with a practice from 1 pm until 3 pm. That will be followed up with a rework and re-watering of the track to get it set for racing at 5 pm.
The IMCA Modifieds will be competing for $1000 to win, while the IMCA Stock Cars and IMCA Sport Mods are battling for a top prize of $500, with the IMCA Hobby Stocks going for $400 to win, and IMCA Sport Compacts going for $300 to win.
Gates on Sunday will open at noon, with the pit passes being $40, ages (7-13) will be $25, and ages 6 & under will be $15 until 3 pm. Then after 3 pm pit passes will go to the normal $25, ages (7-13) $15, and ages 6 & under $10. Grandstands will be FREE from noon until 4 pm, then will be cleared out and then Adults will be $12, students (7-16) $6, and kids 6 & under FREE!
The draw on Sunday will close at 4:30 pm, as there will be NO hot laps for the normal show. The goal is to get the fans and drivers back on the road to home early to get ready to go back to work on Monday.
