Logan Veloz takes first late model win at Davenport

| April 27, 2025

DAVENPORT, Ia. (April 25, 2025) – A tough field of cars were on hand Friday at Davenport Speedway and the competition was intense. The Competitive Concrete Victory Lane saw both first-time and repeat winners on a chilly and breezy evening.

Logan Veloz scored his first ever Outhouse and Storage to Go Container Rentals IMCA Late Model feature win. Logan took the lead of the race on lap three and never looked back. Veloz becomes the third different late model feature winner at Davenport in as many races this season.
Travis Denning started on the pole in the race and led the first two laps before finishing second. Evan Miller, Dustin Smith, and Cruz Birkhofer completed the top five in that order.
Denning, Joe Beal, and Curtis Glover won late model heat races.

Twenty-six Del’s Metal Co. & Midwest Recyclers IMCA Modifieds were in action Friday. The full field of cars was sprinkled with some top-name talent.
Wisconsin’s Skyler Woods jumped out to the early lead in the twenty-lap main. However, the race would be halted by a red flag on lap five. An eight car pile-up on the frontstretch blocked most of the track. All drivers involved were able to walk away from the incident. Some of the racecars were not so lucky.
On the restart, Woods resumed the lead, but now with Spencer Diercks on his rear bumper. Spencer would grab the top spot on lap ten and pace the field the rest of the way. Ben Chapman started tenth and finished second. Drew Janssen started 12th and ended third. Woods held on for fourth with Chaz Baca taking fifth.

Blake Woodruff stayed perfect for the season, winning his third straight Koehler Electric Outlaw Street Stock feature. The victory was not an easy one.
Cary Brown led the first two laps of the feature with Donnie Louck then taking the lead. Woodruff slowly worked his way to the front, gaining the top spot with only two laps to go. Louck would secure a second place finish with Brown third. Andrew Burk and Landen Chrestensen were fourth and fifth respectively.

Cole Stichter claimed his first-ever AVS Hydro Excavating IMCA SportMod feature win. Cole led all fifteen laps en route to the checkers. Ryan Reed would finish second. Rounding out the top five were Dakota Cole, Levi Heath, and Trey Grimm.

Daniel Wauters won both the heat and feature in the Wangelin’s Auto IMCA Hobby Stock division. He then had all four of his shocks claimed. It was Wauters’ first win of the season at Davenport.
Second went to Randy LaMar with Kyler Hefty third. Kaden Staley finished fourth, just ahead of Nick Proehl.

The Cantrell’s Towing/ Fred’s Towing/ QC Towing 4-Cylinder feature saw a dandy of a battle between Joe Lafrenz and Travis Hawkins. Unfortunately, Hawkins would be sidelined with mechanical issues with several laps to go. Lafrenz cruised to an easy victory, followed by Nolan Morrow in second and Jason Rhoads in third. Spencer Roggentien and Zachary Pappas closed out the top five.

Race #4 in the chase for the Davenport Speedway track championships is on tap for next Friday, May 2nd. May 9th will see the return of the Sprint Invaders to the Davenport track.
