Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, MLRA returns to Lucas Oil Speedway on Saturday for 16th annual CMH Diamond Nationals

WHEATLAND, MO. (July 12, 2022) – The biggest Late Model race of Lucas Oil Speedway’s summer schedule arrives on Saturday as the stars of the sport return for the 16th annual CMH Diamond Nationals Presented by Summit Racing Equipment.

 

The drivers from the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series along with the Lucas Oil MLRA will be on hand to chase a $15,000 first prize and prestigious diamond ring that goes to the winner of the 50-lap main event.

 

Also on the program will by the Cedar Creek Beef Jerky USRA Modifieds with a $1,000-to-win feature and O’Reilly Auto Parts USRA Stock Cars running for a $750 first prize. Pit and spectator gates open at 4 p.m. with hot laps at 6:30 and opening ceremonies at 7.

 

This marks the second and final appearance of the nation-touring Lucas Oil Dirt Late Model Series and will be stop three of a Midwest swing that opens on Thursday night at I-70 Motorsports Park in Odessa, Missouri, and continues on Friday night at Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois. Tim McCreadie of Watertown, New York, has a narrow 50-point lead over Brandon Sheppard of New Berlin, Illinois, in the LOLMDS championship chase.

 

Sheppard is coming off a feature win at the Gopher 50 on Saturday night at Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minnesota.

 

Over Memorial Day weekend as the LOLMDS visited Lucas Oil Speedway, North Carolina driver Chris Ferguson beat Ricky Thornton Jr., to capture the Show-Me 100 Presented by ProtecttheHarvest.com.

 

In the Lucas Oil MLRA, Johnny Scott of Las Cruces, New Mexico – winner of the Tribute to Don and Billie Gibson Show-Me 100 preliminary – has a 50-point championship lead over Chad Simpson of Mount Vernon, Iowa.

 

Pit and spectator gates open at 4 p.m. with hot laps at 6:30 and racing at 7:05.

Left Front – Hoosier (90) LM20 or harder

Right Front/Left Rear – Hoosier (90) LM20

Right Rear – Hoosier (92) LM30s

*Must use the same set of 4 tires for Time Trials, Heat Races, and B-Mains.

*For the A-Main, competitors may use a new right rear tire.

*Flat tire must be replaced with a used tire of the same compound and construction to retain starting position.
