Lucas Oil MLRA Spring Nationals Fall to Mother Nature
Wheatland, Missouri (April 12, 2018) – After looking at multiple weather forecast, officials with the Lucas Oil MLRA in conjunction with staff at the Lucas Oil Speedway have made the difficult decision to cancel this weekend’s Spring Nationals, Presented by RacingJunk.com.
MLRA Series Director Ernie Leftwich stated, “With the chance for severe weather on Friday coupled with the forecasted frigged temperatures for Saturday we feel this is the best decision for everyone involved. Cancelling the event early will allow fans and race teams to make other plans and most importantly keep everyone safe with the projected conditions in the Wheatland area.”
Although this weekend’s action falls to Mother Nature, series officials say they are optimistic that the event can be rescheduled. Leftwich said, “Dan Robinson with Lucas Oil Speedway and myself are already looking into some optional dates as we both hope to still be able to run this annual event at a later date.”
Coming up next for the MLRA series will be a double header weekend at a pair of Eastern Iowa facilities. Action will kick off next Friday April, 20th at the half-mile Davenport Speedway for a $5,000 to win main event. Teams will then pack up and head to 34 Raceway in Burlington, IA for Saturday nights running of the Slocum 50. Saturday’s event will be another high dollar affair with the feature winner cashing in on a $10,555 pay day.
