WHEATLAND, MO. (May 28, 2024) – Following a busy Show-Me 100 weekend, Lucas Oil Speedway will take this weekend off before resuming the Big Adventure RV Weekly Championship Series on June 8th with a scheduling change.

To work with other area tracks and sanctioning bodies to help support car counts, the Hermitage Lumber POWRi Late Models will not be on the June 8th schedule. The Lucas Oil MLRA is racing that night at Springfield Raceway and Lake Ozark Speedway has a Cash Money Series event that night.

“Those Late Model drivers who race with us weekly can attend those events can attend one of those events and support them also,” Lucas Oil Speedway General Manager Danny Lorton said.

Lorton also announced that Mod Lites will be added to the June 8th event as a guest class, racing for $500 to win and $75 to start. The Clear Creek Golf Car USRA B-Mods will be the featured class that evening, running a 25-lap, $750-to-win main event. The Arctic Food Equipment USRA Modifieds and O’Reilly Auto Parts USRA Stock Cars also will be in action.

That will be a busy weekend at the speedway as it also marks the first appearance this season for the Kentucky Drag Boat Association on Lake Lucas. The KDBA Summer Thunder on Lake Lucas will be in action both June 8-9. Check out kydragboat.com for more on the series.

POWRi Late Model makeup and Wells bounty: The Hermitage Lumber POWRi Late Models will return on June 15th and make up their rained out special from the Show-Me 100. The feature will run prior to the start of the regular racing program, going 30 laps for $2,000 to win. That evening’s regular program also will be the first “bounty” on reigning track champion Justin Wells, who is 5-for-5 in POWRi Late Model features this season after winning 11 times in 2023.

Lorton said the bounty will start at $500 to any drivrer able to beat Wells. Each week that the bounty doesn’t get claimed, $100 will be added – June 15th ($500), June 22nd ($600), July 4th ($700), July 20th ($800) and July 27th ($900).

“If no one claims the bounty in the five-week hunt, then Wells will receive the $900 bounty money which we will top it off with a extra $100 to make it a even $1,000 if he can outrun the bounty hunters,” Lorton said. “These four races, the bounty has to be earned legally, the driver’s car has to pass tech 100%, Justin has to have finished the race for it to be claimed.

There also are some other schedule changes for the remainder of the season:

Full Fender Challenge coming Aug. 17: With Central Missouri Speedway and I-70 Speedway both having Super Stock specials on July 27th, Lucas Oil Speedway will not run Super Stocks that night as they were added as a guest class.

On Aug. 17th, along with POWRi Summer Thunder 410 Sprints and 305s plus the POWRi Super Stocks, the USRA Stock Cars have been added to this event for what is being called the “Super Stocks vs Stock Cars Full Fender Challenge.”

POWRi super stocks will race for $1,500 to win, $150 to start feature with $100 entry fee. USRA Stock Cars will race for $1,500 to win, $150 to start feature with $100 entry fee. Then the top 12 from the Super Stock feature and top 12 from the Stock Cars feature will enter into a Super Stock vs Stock Car Full Fender Challenge race for $1,500 to win, $150 to start. The top 12 from each feature will draw for their starting spots in the Full Fender Challenge Race.

POWRi Super Stocks will earn POWRi National points for their feature and USRA Stock Cars will earn their sanctioning series points, and track points for their individual feature. No points will be awarded for the Stock Car vs Super Stock Full Fender Challenge.

“It’s all for fun, glory and payout money,” Lorton said.
