Maquoketa Speedway Crowns Track Champions

2023 Season To Be Extended

 

Maquoketa, Iowa: The Maquoketa Speedway hosted Season Championship races on Saturday night hosted by Dynamic Tube of Maquoketa. The great folks at Dynamic Tube provided bonus money to the Season Championship winners along with hard charger bonuses as well.

The Kunes Nissan IMCA Modifieds Season Championship belonged to Freeport, Illinois driver Jeff (Bone) Larson. The main event went caution early when the majority of the field came to halt in turn one. Fortunately the majority of the drivers were able to continue as the race went caution free until a late race caution saw the the 99 of Brandon Jewell spin collecting the G1 of Mike Garland. Larson was up to all challenges and scored the 20 lap Season Championship win over Jeremy Gustaf and Scott Lemke. Larson secured the track title and kept himself in the running for the IMCA Modified National Championship. In victory lane a cousin of Larson’s proposed to his girlfriend making for an excellent night as the team will now have a wedding to plan.

Bob Silaggi, in his 43 rd year of racing, celebrated on Saturday night with a Season Championship win in the Amhof Trucking IMCA Sportmods and another Maquoketa Speedway Track Championship. Silaggi led flag to flag taking the win over a fast closing Jarrett Franzen. Last weeks feature winner Cole Stichter advanced from a 12th position start to take third.

The QC Jeeps.Com IMCA Stock Cars Season Championship main event saw local Maquoketa driver Jacob Ellithorpe lead flag to flag sailing around the top side of the ¼ mile. Ellithorpe led Jerry Miles early, but a late race dash to the finish saw Chase Zaruba slip by Miles for second at the checkered flag. Ellithorpe put an exclamation point on a great season at the Maquoketa Speedway, with the win on Saturday night, the Season Track Title was earned by Ellithorpe.

The Ueland Auto IMCA Hobby Stock Season Championship main event was won by Lukas Short. The Dynamic Tube Season Championship win was Short’s second win of the 23 season. Short took the main win by getting to the checkers ahead of Jordan Miles and Tucker Richardson. Despite being sidelined by a broken axle, Randy LaMar was crowned the Ueland Auto Hobby Stock Track Champion.

Jeff Schmidt won the INEX Legend Season Championship race on Saturday night, scoring the 12 lap main event win ahead of Cole O’Brien and Keith Meyer. With a fourth place finish, Freeport, Illinois driver David Eberle captured his third Maquoketa Speedway Track Championship.

The Hawkeye Auto Sport Compacts Season Championship main event saw Jacob Welter scored his second feature win of the season. Welter had just scored his first ever win a couple of week ago at Maquoketa. The Farley driver took the win ahead of Michael Snyder and Zach Brenner. With a fifth place finish Evan Hess, earned the Sport Compact Track Championship.

Racing will continue at the Maquoketa Speedway on Saturday, September 2nd. the special added racing event will include Modifieds, Sportmods and Stock Cars plus a couple of more racing classes yet to be determined. Hot laps on Saturday, September 2nd will get underway at 6 pm.
