Midwest Sanction Showdown set for Davenport Speedway this Friday
Open Late Models will take on the historic half-mile oval
DAVENPORT, Ia. (April 15, 2015) – Stock car racing excitement returns to the historic half-mile track at the Davenport Speedway this Friday, for the Midwest Sanction Showdown. The event is co-sanctioned by the Cornbelt Clash Late Model Series and the MARS DirtCar Series.
Last year’s race was won by Jason Feger of Bloomington, Illinois. The victory was Feger’s second on the Davenport half-mile track.
The MARS DirtCar Series is a super late model organization that competes across the Midwest. The Missouri based racing series will travel to nine states this season. The defending series champion is Tony Jackson Jr., of Lebanon, Missouri.
The Cornbelt Clash Late Model Series is entering its seventh season in 2015. The Corn Belt Clash Late Model Series is a super late model series that races in the upper Midwest. The West Union, Iowa based series has races scheduled in five states this year. The defending series champion is Chad Simpson of Mt. Vernon, Iowa.
Also racing at the Midwest Sanction Showdown will be non-sanctioned IMCA Modifieds and Street Stocks.
The Davenport Speedway half-mile track has a history of late model stock car racing that goes all the way back to 1949. The very first NASCAR race in the State of Iowa was held on the half-mile track in 1953.
The Davenport Speedway is located at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds, on West Locust Street in Davenport, Iowa. Pit gates will open at 4:30pm, grandstand at 5:00pm, with hotlaps at 6:30, and racing at 7:00pm.
