WINSTON, MO (June 30, 2012) – With temperatures well into the high 90’s it didn’t stop the I-35 faithful from showing up and putting on a great show for our fans. It was www.picturemeracing.com night at I-35 Speedway and our midseason championship night.

The night started out with the tightest points battle, the IMCA Stock Cars where the top seven are seperated by a mere nine points. Since it was midseason that meant we lined up by points.

Jon Boller Jr. and Dean Wray led the field to the green and from the drop of the green flag it was all Dean Wray. Wray led the entire fifteen lap feature as the Stock Cars proved once again why they are one of the smoothest classes in IMCA racing going caution free. Wray (Jamesport) picked up his class leading fifth win of the season. Jon Boller Jr. (St. Joseph) keeps his slim point lead with a second place showing, Jake Cameron (Winston) was third, Pat Neely (St. Joseph) was fourth and Bruce Fair (Trenton) finishes fifth. Nic Hanes gained four spots to win the hard charger.

In “Border War” Grand National action it was Bud Wilson (Trenton) wiring the field and picking up win number five on the year. Wilson held off Gary Donaldson (Liberty) at the line. Donaldson finished second, last weeks winner Austin Johnson (Kansas City) had another good showing in third, Thomas Roberts (Kidder) with another top five in fourth and Jim Peeler (Milan) was fifth. Donaldson making his first start at I-35 gained eight spots to win the hard charger.

The IMCA SportMods had a great night, going thirteen laps before a caution came out. In the end it was Brad Whitney (Trenton) using a late restart to get by race leader and point leader Mike Tanner. On the restart Tanner lost his transmission and fell back to tenth. Whitney was followed by Randy Ainsworth (Excelsior Springs) who held off a good run by Jeremy Pittsenbarger (Cameron), who finished third, Dustin Miller (Pattonsburg) was fourth and Wes Bestgen (Osborn) with a good run was fifth. Mitch Booher gained eight spots to win the hard charger for the second consecutive week.

Eric Stanton (Hartford, Iowa) continued his winning ways as he rolled to his seventh IMCA Hobby Stock win on the season. Stanton had an early challenge by Alex Anderson until Anderson got turned around in turn two.  Anderon (Trenton)rallied to a second place finish, third spot went to Mich Ross (Maysville), fourth went to Billie Hoover (Stewartsville) and Scott Treadwell (Trenton) was fifth. Alex Anderson got the hard charger award.

Cory Wray assumed the points lead and picked up his first win of 2012 in the IMCA Modifieds. Wray held off hard challenges from Darren Shaw to roll to his first victory. Shaw (Lathrop) rallied from an early mishap to finish second, Todd Wilson (Spickard) finished third, Jim Cameron (Cameron) finished fourth after an early spin and Spencer Wilson (Spickard) finished fifth with a left front flat. Todd Wilson gained four spots to win the hard charger.

Next week more great racing and our always popular fireworks spectacular. For all information like us on facebook, visit our website www.i-35speedway.net and for current points visit www.speednetdirect.com
