Opening night is fast approaching at L A Raceway
LaMonte, MO. (March 24, 2014) – Opening night is fast approaching as the L A Raceway will open its season on Saturday, April 12 with the return of the Winged Outlaw Warrior 360 Sprints. This season’s schedule has 15 Saturday nights and 1 Sunday event featuring the “fastest cars on dirt—winged sprint cars.”
Running winged sprint cars weekly was the dream for this 3/8 clay oval when it was built in 2003 and after running them as special events during the last eleven years, everything just fell into place during the winter planning season. When Archie Simpson discussed bringing the fan favorite, highly successful sprint car series, the Winged Outlaw Warriors, back to the Missouri racing fans, it was the perfect fit. With huge driver support and amazing fan support, the 360 Winged Sprint cars will bring the sounds and excitement of speed to the Saturday nights under the lights. Jonathan Cornell of Sedalia and Danny Lasoski of Higginsville were both victorious at L A Raceway in 2013.
While on-track fireworks will no doubt keep fans on the edge of their seats, ‘fireworks’ is also scheduled to salute the drivers and fans on several nights of the season with an awesome Fireworks show planned for July 5.
Even though a premier show will be presented every event, prices have remained affordable and family friendly. Adult tickets will be only $12, senior and military tickets will be $10, tickets for those ages 11-15 will be $6 and children age 10 & under will be admitted free. Pit passes will be $25 but reduced to $15 for age 15 & under. Concession prices have been kept as low as possible with the addition of draught beer being made available as an adult beverage choice. Coolers will no longer be allowed.
The Winged 305 Sprints will return to L A Raceway as a support class and as a stepping stone used by many drivers on their way to the 360 ranks. The Mid-America Lightning Sprints will also make guest appearances on April 26 and August 30 with the Outlaw 600 Micro Sprints appearing on August 31 during the big two-day Labor Day weekend event.
There will be an open practice on April 5 with gates opening at 4pm and cars on the track from 5pm to 8pm. Pit passes will be just $15 with admission to the grandstands free. The open practice will follow the annual DARE Car Show held in downtown Sedalia.
The 360 Winged Sprints will be run under the “WOW” Banner and registration forms and rules can be found at TheOriginalWingedOutlawWarrior.com website.
L A Raceway is located just 12 miles west of Sedalia on Highway Y (16th Street) and only 5 minutes from WAFB. For more information, contact the track at 660-620-1148 or you can go to laraceway.com or follow on facebook.com/la.track and twitter.com/laraceway.
