DAVENPORT, Ia. (June 14, 2013) – With 120 racecars in the pit area Friday night at the Davenport Speedway, there was sure to be a lot of high speed racing action. There was also a big pay-off awaiting the winner of the IMCA Sport Mod 50.

Eric Pollard of Dubuque, inherited the lead of the 50-lapper, when early race leader Dustin Crear of Mediapolis, pulled off the racetrack, on lap 8. Pollard survived several late race restarts and a late challenge from Wisconsin’s Tracy Wassenberg to claim the victory and the $2,000 top prize.

Wassenberg finished a close second, with Bobby Anders of Quincy, Illinois third. Tim Current and Austin Moyer completed the top five. IMCA SportMod heat wins went to Pollard, Dan Mohr, and Ben Chapman. Tim Current won the semi-feature.

Andy Nezworski broke through for his first Petersen Plumbing & Heating IMCA Late Model win of the season. Nezworski used  the high side to pass Gary Webb for the lead, after a lap nine restart. Andy had to fend off Nate Bueseling and Mike Zemo Jr. down the stretch to hang on for the win.

Zemo finished strong to take the runner-up spot. Bueseling took third with Ray Guss Jr. in fourth, and Rob Toland fifth. Zemo, Justin Kay, and Todd Malmstrom were late model heat winners.

Another week, and another different winner in the EMS IMCA Modified division. Bob Dominacki took his ride to victory lane, by leading all twenty laps of the feature. Dominacki was pulling away from the field and had a full straightaway lead at the checkers.

Mitch Morris raced to a solid second place finish. Tim Arp won a fierce battle for third, with Matt Werner and Craig Crawford rounding out the top five. Dominacki, Arp, and Kelly Meyer won the modified heats, while Dean McGee won the modified consi.

A huge field of Koehler Electric Street Stocks were on hand Friday. Three heats and a consi were needed, to set the field for the 15-lap main. Pole sitter Rob Nylin grabbed the early race lead, with Gerald Ward stepping out in front on lap four. After a lap five restart, Jeremy Marquette joined the fight for first, but would not see the lead until lap nine.

Once in front, Marquette drove to his third points win of the season. Cary Brown finished a close second, ahead of Gary Weatherington in third. Ward held on for fourth, with Donnie Louck taking fifth.

Brandon Dahl finally broke Aaron Hitt’s streak of 4-Stock victories on the Davenport Speedway quarter-mile oval. Dahl captured his first Roto-Rooter 4-Stock win of the season, leading the feature flag-to-flag. Dahl was able to stay ahead of an intense battle for second place, that would eventually go to Jake Ellithorpe. Hitt would finish third, with Mitch Bielenberg fourth, and Tristin Clark fifth.

Next Friday, June 21st, is Mid-Season Championships at the Davenport Speedway, sponsored by Kile Motorsports.
