Pugh, Turner, Wright, Nichols and Wray all Winners on Opening Night at Bethany Speedway!!!!
WINSTON, MO (April 21, 2018) – E-Modified would kick off the evening of racing action as Caleb Pugh #8s would have a night to remember winning both heat race and feature on the fast-smooth track. Pugh would have to battle one-time leader and second place finisher Gary Ainsworth #14 as the two would race side by side for several laps. Austin Bouzek #14B would recover from an early race mishap to race his way to third with Rookie contender Brock Brewer #02 fourth. Jason Nelson #12GA would round out the night’s top five as Pugh would celebrate his first ever feature win.
#8s “Pepe” Caleb Pugh from Cameron, MO E-Modified Feature Winner!
Racing continued to be hot and heavy as Pure Stock would roar to the track for an action filled feature. Heat race winner Cody King #29 would take the early lead as Chester Kaufman #94C would challenge every lap. As the race progressed CJ Turner’s #91 would start his march to the front picking off cars until he was on the back bumper of #29. King would fight the good fight but would have to settle for second as Turner would charge by on the inside and take his second win in as many nights. King would place second as Conner Masoner #47 would recover from an early race mishap to place third. Two rookies in the field would put on a show for fourth and fifth as #540 of Shawn Huston and 94C of Chester Kaufman would go side by side, lap after lap. When the checkers fell on the field of competitors Huston would place fourth and Kaufman fifth respectively.
#91 “Precious II” CJ Turner from Jamesport, MO Pure Stock Feature Winner!
IMCA Sport Mod would not disappoint in their debut at Bethany Speedway with a loaded field of fast competitors. Jason Billups #2 would use a front row starting spot to charge to the lead only to see heat race winner Heath Murray #7M use the high line to perfection taking his turn out front. Murray would continue to lead as other heat winner Nic Hanes #9H and Chris Wright #66X would race into the picture to challenge. As Hanes would challenge on the inside, Murray would battle back on the outside with Billups and Wright thinking of making it a four-wide battle. With only a handful of laps to go Hanes would charge by. After post-race inspection Chris Wright was declared the winner with Heath Murray second. Austin Charles #81, who would start seventh charged through and finish 3 as one-time leader Billups would fade to fourth. Big mover of the feature was fifth place finisher Randy Smith Jr who would race his way from 14th starting position.
#66X “The Pit Bull” Chris Wright from Chillicothe, MO IMCA Sport Modified feature Winner!
IMCA Stock cars would be lead to the green by the 65X of Thomas Roberts and #34X of Mich Ross. Roberts would take the front and battle Anthony Whitham #26 until a flat left front would take the #26 from contention. Calvin Teel #55T would take his run at Roberts until Mike Nichols #63 would work his way through traffic and take the point. Nichols would not be denied and pick up his second feature win in as many nights and celebrate in Pettijohns Victory Lane. Chad Clancy #21X would challenge Nichols but be forced to place second on this night with heat race winner Blake Peeler #292 finishing a very close third. Fourth place would see Mich Ross recover from a lap one spin with fifth belonging to the big mover of the race Carson Masoner #20x who would race from a ninth place starting spot. Other heat race winner was Brad Whitney #X9.
#63 Mike Nichols from Harlan, IA IMCA Stock Car Winner!
IMCA Modifieds would see the #69N of Cory Wray win both heat race and feature on this night of competition. Wray would start third row inside and make the high side work passing second place finisher Shadren Turner #17T for the lead and the win. Third would see Chad Clancy #21C with Clay Hale #22H notching a solid fourth place showing. Fifth place would see the veteran driver Richard Spriggs #81, with 35 years of racing experience end the racing action for the evening.
