EAST MOLINE, ILL (April 17, 2013) – After a very long and cold winter, K&S Promotions is excited to begin their second season at the Quad City Speedway. Racing this season are the IMCA Late Models, UMP Modifieds, IMCA Modifieds, Street Stocks, 4-Cylinders, Mod Lites, and Figure 8’s. The Mod Lites and Figure 8’s will begin the season racing every other Sunday. (All the drivers mentioned in this preview are guaranteed to be at the Quad City Speedway every Sunday)

IMCA Late Model:

– With the likes of Mike Zemo Jr., Todd Malmstrom, Nate Beuseling, Mike Garland, Rob Toland, Bobby Toland, Travis Denning, LeRoy Brenner, Shawn Mulvany, Mike Guldenpfennig, and Chuck Hanna competing in the IMCA Late Model division plus new comers Anthony Guss, Jason Bert, Ryan Claeys, and Kyle Neels the track championship should be one of tightest battles in recent memory. The IMCA Late Model Deery Brothers Summer Series will hit the track at the Quad City Speedway on Sunday, May 5th, for the Hershel Roberts Memorial.

UMP Modifieds

–  The UMP Modifieds returned to the Quad City Speedway part way through the 2012 season with some of the best races of the season and one of the closest point battles. Competition should be fierce once again this season with 2012 champion Donovan Lodge, Milo Veloz Jr., Doug Curless, Jason Pershy, Ray Bollinger, Chad Tucker, Dustin Schram, Kevin Hughes, Nathan Balensiefen, Jamie Balensiefen, Justin Veloz, Matt Werner, Shaune Lewis, Austin Hewitt, Brock & Cody Bauman, Vince Cooper, Josh Smith, Erik Bruce, Austin May, Ryan Dolan, Dave Hammond, Mike Chasteen Jr., Steven Brooks, Jeff Curl, Andy Clark plus several other travelers trading paint on Sunday nights. In a couple exciting off season moves, Moline’s, R.J. Gonzales, has made the move from Street Stocks to the UMP Modified division and Colona’s Adam Oppendike is moving from the IMCA Late Models to join the ranks of the UMP Modifieds. The UMP Modified specials of 2013 will be the 20th Annual Gary Reinhart Memorial on Sunday, May 26th, and the 8th Annual Ronnie Weedon Memorial on Sunday, June 9th.

IMCA Modifieds

– Like always the IMCA Modified division looks to be one of the most highly contested divisions at the Quad City Speedway. Rock Island’s, Doug Crampton, will have his sights set on capturing the track championship from East Moline’s, Greg Durbin, after Durbin edged Crampton by 4 points in 2012. Durbin will also have his hands full with Jason Masengarb, Eric Barnes, George Spence III, Todd Dykema, B.J. Jackson, Joe Jones Jr., Terry Rentfro, Dan Hahn, T.J. Patz, Scotty Powell, and rookie Casey Meier as they will all want their piece of the title as well. Also, long time area front runner, Ray Cox Jr., announced this off season that he will be returning to race at the Quad City Speedway in the IMCA Modified division.

Street Stocks

– With the 2012 Street Stock track champion, Emily Gade, away at the University of Northwestern Ohio and the second place finisher, Chuck Fox, taking this season off, the door is wide open in the Street Stock division in 2013. You can never count out drivers like Rick Schriner, Chris Lawrence, Nick Lawrence, Cary Brown, Rob Nylin, Rob Henry, Korey Peterson, Terry Smith, Jeremy Gustaf, Erick Turner, and Zach Huston on any given Sunday. After a hiatus from racing, Gary Weatherington Jr. will be making his return to racing this season in the Street Stock division. It should be yet another exciting season in the Street Stock division at the Quad City Speedway. The Inaugural Ron Marks Memorial will be Sunday, September 1st, featuring the Street Stock division.

4-Cylinders

– The always entertaining 4-Cylinder division should once again yield a very competitive battle for the track championship in 2013. The Dahl boys (Zach, Wade, & Brandon), Aaron Hitt, Camron Poci, Dustin Forbes, Eric Stogdell, Josh Sharpe, Jon Scott, Drew Wise, Brandon Setser, Zach Bollinger, Brandt Cole, Ashton Hubbell, John Scott III, and several others will be duking it out last season with only one being crowned track champion.

Mod Lites

– The Mod Lites will return for the 2013 season racing every other Sunday to begin the year. The Mod Lite division put on some of the best races in 2012 and several drivers including David Norton, Dan Guss, Bryan Brinker, Brad Lucy, Rob Guss, Gary Snyder, Brian Schnell, John Belville, Mike & Carl Pershing, Ron Gould, Andrew Smith, and new comers Jim Betcher, Jake Smith, and Bill Holden plus the many out-of-towners will be after Shon Sanders’ 2012 title. The Quad City Speedway will host two, $300 to win, Mod Lite races in 2013. The first $300 to win race will be Sunday, April 21st, and the second $300 to win race will be Sunday, June 9th.

Figure 8’s

– For the time since 1989 the Figure 8’s will be racing at the Quad City Speedway. They will start the season out racing every other Sunday with hopes of racing every Sunday if the car count grows. Figure 8 veteran, Terry Mattly, will be the odds on favorite to win the track championship but only time will tell if other former Figure 8 racers will return to challenge for the championship or if a first time Figure 8 race will take the first track championship in almost 25 years.

Contingency Connection

– K&S Promotions has also partnered up the Contingency Connection to bring $100,000+ of contingencies to the drivers at the Quad City Speedway in 2013. Beginning May 5th, and continuing throughout the rest of the racing, at least two contingencies will be awarded each night. A schedule of what divisions will be receiving what contingencies on what night will be released in the next few days. Contingency Connection and their great sponsors have provided K&S Promotions with banners to hang and decals to distribute to the drivers. To become eligible for the contingencies all you have to do is put the decal on your race car of the products you use on your race car.

MW Productions

– An added bonus this year is that MW Productions will be recording every race at the Quad City Speedway and re-airing them weekly on Real Racing Online TV at www.twitch.tv. Copies of all the races will also be available to purchase at the track.

After last weekend’s events got washed out. Opening Night at the Quad City Speedway will be Sunday, April 21st, with a Car Show, prior to the evening’s racing program, from 1pm to 3pm in the first parking lot at the Quad City Speedway. Racing this Sunday, April 21st, will be the IMCA Late Models, UMP Modifieds, IMCA Modifieds, Street Stocks, 4-Cylinders, and Mod Lites. Pits and grandstands will open after the car show is over with hot laps at 5:15pm and racing at 5:30pm. Grandstand admissions are $10 for adults, $11 for reserved, $8 for seniors, $4 for kids 6 to 12, and free for kids 5 & under. Pit passes will be $25. See you Sunday!
