Race schedule changed during Buchanan County Fair at Independence Motor Speedway
INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (Feb. 26, 2014) – A change to the grandstand events schedule for the 2014 Buchanan County Fair has led to a schedule change for the fair race at Independence Motor Speedway.
The Buchanan County Fair Association recently announced that a live music concert will highlight the Saturday, July 19, grandstand schedule at this year’s fair. As a result, that evening’s weekly racing program has been removed from the schedule.
Due to the cancellation, a special race night has been added to kick off the 2014 fair schedule on Wednesday, July 16. Stock Cars, Northern SportMods and Hobby Stocks will compete during the special event and will run weekly track rules. Those divisions will be unsanctioned and will not compete for track points. Micro Mods will also be a part of the July 16 event in their first-ever appearance at the speedway.
The annual Dick Frye Memorial, traditionally held during the weekly racing program during the fair, has been moved up one week to Saturday, July 12.
Start times and pricing information will be made available as those event dates approach.
