Marshalltown, Iowa (June 2nd, 2015) – Tuesday Night the Marshalltown Speedway hosted the Deery Brothers Summer Series for the annual visit to the high banks sponsored by H & F Distributing and Rumours Bar & Grill, both of Marshalltown. Right around 100 cars signed in to battle including 31 Late Models.

Taking checkers on Tuesday was Jason Rauen (Late Models), Josh May (Mod Lites), Justin Comer (INEX Legends) and Curtis Van Der Wal (SportMods). Jeff Aikey won the Late Model Australian Pursuit.

Tim Hennigar and Randy Bryan led the field to the green flag in the 20 lap Stars Heartland West Series Race for the Mod Lites and it was Hennigar taking advantage. Just after two laps was completed the caution came out for Mike Stoker and David Simpson in turn one. Hennigar continued to lead even through the caution on lap five for Tanner Gottman and lap eight again for Simpson. Hennigar appeared to be heading on to the win but when a caution came out with two laps to go forcing a green-white-checkered finish it was Josh May making the move from fourth to the lead by lap 19. May went on to take the victory of Hennigar, Bryan, Jimmy May and Jeff Stensland.
Brayton Carter grabbed the lead on lap one in the IMCA Northern SportMods 20 lap feature before the caution came out for Daniel Tasler, Matt Petrzelka, Tom Rawlins and Kendall Davis got together in turn one. Carter again continued to lead but the caution came out again three the next two laps. Carter was not fazed by it but the caution again came out lap five, because the time was expiring quickly one lap was added every time a caution came out. Carter saw Sam Wieben and Curtis VanDerWal, who worked his way up from 17th starting spot, right behind him and on lap 12 it was Van Der Wal taking the lead away, Wieben took second on lap 14 and when a caution came out on lap 17 for Joey Schaefer in turn two it saw Wieben getting by VanDerWal. Wieben was on the bottom and VanDerWal on the highside they dueled it out to the checkers with VanDerWal taking $1,000 back to Oskaloosa. Wieben finished second, Carter was third, Jared Van Deest was fourth and Clint Luellen was fifth.

Making their first ever visit to Marshalltown was the INEX Legend Cars Racing for a Cause and it was NASCAR Driver Tony Stewart’s Dad Nelson Stewart taking the lead early in the 25 lapper. However the caution came out twice in the first two laps for Bryce Bailey spinning. Tim Brockhouse took the lead away on the restart but on lap eight the caution came out for Craig Peekenschneider on the back-stretch. Brockhouse continued to pace the way but on lap twn it was Justin Comer getting by for the lead. Not even the cautions on lap 14 or 16 would denied Comer the victory. Brockhouse, Dave Comer, Vince Bartolotta and Stewart rounded out the top five.
Final feature of the night was the Miller Lite 50 for Deery Brothers Summer Series presented by H & F Distributing and Rumours Bar & Grill. Scott Fitzpatrick and Tyler Droste redrew the pole during the Casey’s General Stores Redraw. Fitzpatrick led the first lap but it was Droste taking the lead away on lap two. Droste and Fitzpatrick stayed close when the caution came out on lap four for Todd Malmstrom, Curt Martin, Jeremy Grady and Kevin Kile got together on the front-stretch. Droste was not going to let that bother him however by the time he encountered lap traffic on lap 17 this allowed Jason Rauen to chase down.
Rauen was staying close to Droste as the lap traffic got heavy, that allowed all time Deery Series Win Leader Jeff Aikey to chase down Rauen and Droste. It was a three car fight up front with Droste holding off Rauen and Aikey until lap 41 when Rauen took the lead away. Droste tried several times to get lead back but it was Rauen holding to the win over Droste, Jeff Aikey, Scott Kirkpatrick and Justin Kay.
It’s back to business again at the Marshalltown Speedway on Friday Night as its State Center Night at the Races. All five Weekly divisions will be in competition. Hot Laps at 6:50pm and Racing at 7:30pm.
