Schroeder Takes First Win at SIS

Stuart, IA (August 11) – With lightning in the skies to the north, the thunder was on the track with another night of fast and furious action at Stuart Speedway! Josh May, Shawn Cooney, Luke Wanninger, Nick Roberts, Andy Forcht, Jamie Schirm, Jamie Songer and Curt Schroeder were the winners on Ganoe Excavating Night at the Races.
MADCRA Mod Lites were first up with Randy Bryan and Dusty Masolini on the front row. Masolini led the first two laps until Josh May moved by on lap three. From there it was a race for second as May went on to the win, his fifth win in as many starts. Jimmy May would win the battle for second at the line with Charlie Brown third, Masolini fourth and Bryan fifth. Bryan was the heat race winner.
IMCA Sport Compacts were out next with Jason Montes and Shawn Cooney on the front row. Cooney took the lead on lap one and never looked back in picking up his sixth win of the year. Shannon Bruchart and Montes rounded out the field and Cooney was the heat race winner.
Jared Deterding and Ron Bash brought out the IMCA Modifieds next for their twenty lap feature. Tony Hilgenberg led lap one with Josh Most taking over for the next two laps. Luke Wanninger moved past Most on lap four and held strong until a lap ten debris caution bunched the field. Once the green flag flew it was all Wanninger to the end as he went on to snag win number six on the season. Josh Gilman crossed in second with Beau Kaplan third, Most fourth and Scott Bash fifth. Gilman and Wanninger were the heat race winners.
IMCA Northern Sportmods came out next with Nick Roberts and Matt Webb on the front row. Roberts took the early lead with Webb in second. Cole Ferguson moved into the runner up spot on lap two and began to work on catching Roberts. Lap nine would bring an end to that chase as Ferguson spun to the infield, bringing Clinton Luellen into second. Try as he may, there was no catching Roberts on this night as he went on to win for the third time this season. Luellen finished in second with Webb third, Larry Embrey fourth and Arie Schouten fifth. Roberts also was the heat race winner.
Tanner Gottman and Andy Forcht were on the front row for the 6 Cylinder FWD’s next with Gottman taking charge right away. Forcht closed in and as the white flag flew the two cars were side by side! Forcht did all he could, but it was Gottman at the line by half a car length! Forcht, the heat race winner, was second with Justin McKinney third.
IMCA Stock Cars were up next with Michael Walrod and Bryan Snell on the front row. A tangle between the two resulted in a black flag for Snell for questionable driving and Walrod being done for the night. When the dust settled on that mess it was Jamie Schirm and Chris Pruitt leading the field to the green with Schirm moving into the lead. Pruitt pulled alongside quite a few times but could never quite get the edge as Schirm continued to hold the lead. Slowly pulling into the picture was the old wily veteran Brian Blessington. Running in sixth place on lap eleven, Blessington moved up a groove off of the bottom and began going forward. Blessington passed Pruitt for second on lap seventeen just as the yellow flag flew for a spinning car in turn two. Once the green flew it was all Schirm as he went on to his third win of the season. Blessington ended his run in second with Pruitt third, Nyle Godwin fourth and Jeff Anderson fifth. Schirm and Snell were the heat race winners.
Riley Songer and Gina Greubel were the front row starters for the IMCA Hobby Stocks with Songer leading lap one. Jeff Fink took over for the next two with Jamie Songer moving past on lap four. J. Songer would lead through two debris cautions, the second of which brought Shannon Anderson up to the back bumper of the 2013. Anderson, who was involved in a caution early and restarted at the rear, was looking to pick up his ninth win of the year. Instead, it would be win number two of the season for J. Songer as he cruised to the checkered flag. Anderson crossed in second with Fink third, Greubel fourth and Derek Hodges fifth. Chad LeGere and J. Songer were the heat race winners.
Last but not least, the IMCA Late Models came out with Randy Faux and Paul Conrad on the front row for their fourth and final event of the season at Stuart Speedway. Curt Schroeder took over from his third starting spot with Faux and Paul Glendenning close behind. Todd Cooney moved up to third on lap ten and second on lap fifteen. Cory Zeitner spoiled Cooney’s run, moving into second on lap nineteen, but nothing would ruin Schroeder’s night as he went on to pick up his first win at Stuart Speedway. Zeitner finished second and Faux got back past Cooney for third. Cooney, the track champion for 2013, finished fourth with Glendenning fifth. Schroeder and Glendenning were the heat race winners.
