Shuman Victorious at Valley
Grain Valley, MO(July 3, 2015)-Taking the lead from Ryan Kitchen on lap seven, Casey Shuman went on to his third win of the season with the Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps WAR Series presented by Next LED on Friday at Valley Speedway.
Polesitter Kitchen got a good start as he moved in front of Chris Parkinson once the green flag waved. The duo would run this way over the first four laps as Shuman and Chad Goff had a heated battle for third.
On lap five, Shuman would work his way past Parkinson and into second as he quickly moved in on Kitchen. In heavy lapped traffic, Shuman would work his way past Kitchen and quickly extend his lead.
By lap nine, Goff had moved past both Parkinson and Kitchen into the runner-up spot.
With ten laps in the books, the red would come out for a flip involving Kevin Risley. The Oklahoma driver was not injured, but was done for the evening.
The next few laps would see an abundance of yellow flags as Shuman was up to the challenge and stayed in the top spot. Behind Shuman, Goff and Parkinson were wheel to wheel battling for the second spot. Parkinson would take over the spot on lap sixteen for good.
With nineteen laps complete, three cars spun over the bank in between turns three and four. With a huge concern of how much fuel drivers might have left due to the excessive yellow flags and with curfew looming, the decision was made to throw the checkered flag. Shuman picked up his third win in the Hockett Racing/Korte Transportation #75. Parkinson was a strong second in his Ozark Barge and Dock/54th Street Grill and Bar #65. Goff was third in his Kercher Engines/B&D Racing #9. Cody Baker was a solid fourth in the David Long #38 with Rik Forbes rounding out the top five in his #95. Riley Kreisel was sixth with Craig Carroll, John Helm, Kenny Potter, and Casey Baker rounding out the top ten.
Rookie Clyde Knipp took a hard hit in hot laps as he slid off of turn two and smacked the guard rail. He was transported to a local hospital and later released.
