Southern Iowa Grand Week pays off big for IMCA Modifieds

OSKALOOSA, Iowa  (July 9, 2013) – The   numbers IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified drivers will have in mind when   making July 16-18 Southern Iowa Grand Week plans are $1,000, $1,000 and   $2,000.

The Karl Performance Hawkeye Dirt Tour presented by XSAN feature on Tuesday, July 16 at Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa pays $1,000 to win and a minimum of $150 to start.

The weekly feature at   Osky the next night during the Southern Iowa Fair also totes a $1,000 top   prize, providing the winner competed in the Hawkeye Dirt Tour the night   before. The winner of the Thursday, July 18 Harris Clash at Knoxville Raceway   earns $2,000.

All three features are   qualifiers for the 2013 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. The   All-Star race will be held Friday, Sept. 6 during the IMCA Speedway Motors   Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s at Boone Speedway.

Tuesday’s draw/redraw   show at Oskaloosa also boasts IMCA Late Models running for $600 to win, Karl   Chevrolet Northern SportMods for $350, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars for $400, and   IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks for $250

Weekly divisions are in   action on Wednesday at SIS. As with the Modifieds, Stock Car, SportMod and   Hobby Stock drivers will be eligible for higher payouts providing they   competed Tuesday.

Stock Cars would vie for   $450, SportMods for $400, and Hobby Stocks for $300. Sport Compacts chase a   $150 check. All divisions are draw/redraw on Wednesday also.

Pit gates open at 5 p.m.   and the grandstand opens at 5:30 p.m. both days in Oskaloosa. Hot laps are at   7 p.m. and racing starts at 7:30 p.m. Pit passes are $25 for adults, $15 for   youth ages 7-13 and $10 for kids six and under.

Grandstand admission on   Tuesday is $12 for adults and $6 for students. On Wednesday, admission is $10   for adults, $5 for students ages 7-18 and free for six and under.

Northern SportMods join   the Modifieds in Knoxville for the 22nd annual Clash.

A $500 bonus will be paid   to the Modified winner if their chassis manufacturer is among the event   sponsors. Northern SportMods run for $750 to win.

Twenty-six cars comprise   the grid for the Modified 25-lapper, which pays a minimum of $250 to start.   The Northern SportMod feature will be 20 laps.

Pit gates open at 3 p.m.,   the draw closes at 5:30 p.m., hot laps are at 6:30 p.m. and racing starts at   7:15 p.m.

Grandstand admission is   $15 for adults, $8 for students, $4 for kids ages 6-12 and free for youngsters   five and under. Pit passes are $25. Anyone ages 12-17 must have a waiver,   signed by a parent or guardian, to get into the pit area.

“Modified and Northern   SportMod drivers can race three straight nights at tracks that are less than   25 miles apart and for good money,” noted SIS Promoter Mike Van Genderen.   “These tracks are almost identical so they’ll never have to change a gear.”

ALS Night at Marshalltown   Speedway also pays $1,000 to win for the Modifieds on July 19, the final   night of qualifying for the 2013 All-Star ballot.
