HAYS, KS (May 5)—‘The Spiderman’ Nick Tubbs of Colby made it two wins in a row in racing action Saturday night, May 5, at RPM Speedway in Hays, KS.

Salina’s Austin Carter took the early lead in the Advantage Glass Plus IMCA Stock Car main event, trailed by Eric Kinderknecht and Tubbs.  Tubbs worked his way to second on lap 3, then passed Carter on the outside on lap 13 in the 20-lap race to make his second appearance in a row in victory lane at RPMSpeedway.  Carter finished second, followed by Jason Rogers, Kinderknecht, and Dustin McClurg.  Heat race winners were Carter and Pat Bedore.

Beloit’s Brian Calhoon started outside pole of the Teel’s Trucks IMCA Modified feature and was not to be denied as he led all 20 laps of the caution free event.  Rodger Peck finished in the runner-up spot, followed by point leader David Murray Jr., ‘The Terminator’ Travis Sherfick, and ‘Gentleman’ Jerry Phillips.  Peck, David Solberg, and Calhoon were victorious in their heat races.  Rick Julian ofGreat Bendrolled his car in his heat race but was okay.

Tyler Sutton took the lead at the drop of the green in the Golden Plains Trucking IMCA Northern Sport Mod main event.  Hometown driver Trenton Kleweno then took over the top spot on lap 9, but gave up the lead toBelleville’s Tyler Frye on lap 13.  Frye, who won the night before at Salina Speedway, would lead the final 7 laps to notch his first win at RPMSpeedwaythis season.  Jake Krone, Blaine Walt, Cory Struckhoff and Brian Conness completed the top five.  Heat race winners were Sutton and Struckhoff.

Cody Ghumm jumped out to the lead in the Rebel Tank Service IMCA Hobby Stock main event before ‘Cheeseburger’ G.W. Fuller of Tescott took control.  The red flag waved on lap 12 when Ron Wehling rolled his car off turn 1.  Wehling was okay but done for the night.  Fuller led the field back to green and drove on to make his way to the winner’s circle.  Tony Slothower finished in second, followed by ‘Bam Bam’ Cody Graham, ‘The Wild Child’ Garrett Hager, and Kent Tammen.  Tommy Fose, Mark Normandin and Aaron Honas won the three heat races.

The Steel Fabrications IMCA Sport Compact feature had an interesting finish.  Point leader Monte Honas took the early lead in the 12-lap race, but was passed by the ‘The Hit Man’ Trevor Schmidt on lap 9.  Schmidt appeared to be on his way to victory lane, but car problems fell upon Schmidt on the final lap and that allowed the young lady from Hays Shyla Hughes to take the lead and score the win.  Vincent Jasper, Brian Lobdell, Kirk Pfannesntiel and Dean Herzog rounded out the top five.  Honas and Hughes won the two heat races.

It was ‘School Night’ at the speedway with all kids 12 & under admitted free with a paid adult.  Carrico Implement was the evening’s race sponsor.  Forty-eight bicycles were given away to kids during intermission.
