Taylor III, Bowers, Schudy, Glendenning, Myers, Clancy, Johnson and Mick visit McCarthy Auto Group victory lane at I-35 Speedway

| June 14, 2021

WINSTON, MO (June 12, 2021) – 134 cars filled the pits as the USAC Midwest Wingless Racing Association visited I-35 Speedway for the first time in 2021 on Seeburg Muffler night. Fans were treated to some fantastic weather and fantastic racing.

Coming into the night Michael Taylor III and Chris Dishong both had 4 wins on the season in the ultra-competitive E-Mod division. Both positioned themselves through their heat races to have a front row starting spot and ran nose to tail for much of the 12-lap feature. In the end Taylor III would prevail and captured win #5 at I-35 in 2021. Dishong had a close mishap with a spun car but held on for second, Lane Mathews continues a strong first season finishing third, George Burnett ran up through the field after winning the B-Feature to finish fourth and Mark Anderson had good showing finishing fifth. Heat wins went to Dishong, Mathews and Taylor III. Burnett and Chad Allen transferred through the B-Feature and Burnett gained 13 spots to be the hard charger.

Steven Bowers Jr. is no stranger to McCarthy Auto Group victory lane this season at I-35 Speedway having won 4 times in the USRA Modified division. Bowers returned to victory lane for the 5th time this season but this time he was driving the Darrion McLaughlin owned Pure Stock. Bowers battled with 3-time feature winner and current Pure Stock points leader Rieli Yonts but eventually pulled away for the win. Yonts would finish second followed by Colton Couch, Conrad Kaufman and Brandon Dixon in the top 5. Bowers and Yonts would win the heats with Kaufman being the hard charger gaining 10 spots.

Kory Schudy won the inaugural race for the USAC Midwest Wingless Racing Association last season, which just happened to be at I-35 Speedway. Schudy once again visited victory lane at the famed 3/8ths mile dirt oval leading all 25 laps enroute to the win. Wesley Smith the series points leader coming into the night finished 2nd, Zach Clark finished third, Wyatt Burks the defending series champion finished fourth and Luke Howard finished fifth. Smith, Clark and Tom Curran won the heat races with I-35 Speedway veteran Zach Sanders winning the B. Sanders was also the hard charger.

Paul Glendenning got his second win of 2021 in the Midwest Limited Late Models at I-35 Speedway. Glendenning led all 20 laps to capture the win. Tommy Cordray put some pressure on Glendenning but finished second, Houston Johnson finished third, Michael Dotson was fourth and Mike Taylor Jr. was fifth. Glendenning and Kerry Davis won the heat races and Dotson was the hard charger.

Coming into Saturday night not many drivers have had more bad luck than Corey Myers. Myers finally got out from under the black cloud by capturing his first ever USRA B-Mod feature. Myers led from the drop of the green flag but a 5-time feature winner and current points leader Tyler Cadwallader didn’t make it easy. Cadwallader got underneath Myers numerous times by Myers stayed strong and would not be rattled. Cadwallader finished second, Chad Fuller continued his strong season finishing third, Eddie Schwope finished fourth and Colin Pierce would finish a strong fifth. Clayton Stutesman, Danan Knott and Casey Burnett won the heats with Schwope having a good run winning the hard charger.

“Mr. Smooth” Chad Clancy picked up his first USRA Stock Car victory in 2021 at I-35 Speedway. Clancy led from the get-go enroute to the win. Steve Jackson, a USRA Iron Man veteran finished second, defending champ Doug Keller battled early for the win finished third, current points leader Michael Knight finished fourth and Aaron Sauter finished fifth. Clancy and Sauter won the heat races with Jackson gaining 9 spots for the hard charger.

Houston Johnson used a lap car to his advantage slipping by leader Darren Shaw with a late race pass to capture his second USRA Modified win on the season. Shaw held on to finish second, Kyle Covert finished third, Shayne Bailey was fourth and Ed Noll fifth. Shaw and Lee Hibner won the heat races and Daniel Harris was the hard charger.

Sport Compacts hit the track last this week with Brad Mick in his new car slipping by leader Brett Holman for his second win of the season. Steven Bunton making his return finished second, Holman held on for third, Harold Robb Sr. was fourth and Keegan Russell fifth. Holman and Robb Sr. won the heats with Bunton being the hard charger.

Next week join us for the Pro Ag Finish Strong Mike Tanner Memorial.
