Maquoketa, Iowa (August 24, 2024) – Maquoketa hosted the 2024 Season Championship races on Saturday night as the Maquoketa Speedway hosted 122 race teams for another exciting night of racing action.

The Kinion Auto Sales IMCA Late Models provided another action packed headliner as the Late Model drivers used every inch of the perfectly prepared track. Travis Denning used both the high side and the low groove as he worked his way to the front in the 25 lap main event advancing from the 9th position. Denning took the checkers ahead of Mitch Morris and Evan Miller. With the Season Championship win, Denning also earned the 2024 IMCA Late Model Track Championship.

Drew Janssen made his second appearance at the Maquoketa Speedway racing his Veach Septic and Sewer IMCA Modified. Janssen started at the tail of the invert due to the fact that he did not have an established point average. A fifth row start did not bother Janssen as he was able to work through traffic in route to the 20 lap Season Championship main event win. The long tow from Pella paid off for Janssen as he raced to the win ahead of Spencer Diercks and Mitch Way.

The QCJeeps.Com IMCA Stock Car main event saw hometowner Jacob Ellithorpe put the finishing touches on a great season. Ellithorpe took the led from Greg Gill and went on to score the Dynamic Tube Season Championship win and earn his back to back track Championship. Ellithorpe raced to the front from his fifth row start and secured the race lead with five laps to go. Gill crossed under the checkers in second ahead of Mike Weidemann.
24 Amhof trucking IMCA Sportmods took the green for their Season Championship main event.

Bobby Taggart led early before Shane Paris, who started 12th, made his way to the front quickly taking the lead with only four laps completed. Paris went on to take a comfortable win with the 2024 track champion, Jarrett Franzen, taking second. Austin Stamm rounded out the top three in the Season Championship main event.
The Hawkins Construction IMCA Hobby Stock main event was decided at the finish line as race leader, Jimmy Doescher, had a tire go down as he exited turn four coming to the checkers. Doescher slowed just enough to allow Jordan Miles to make the pass and score the Season Championship win. Miles was also crowned the 24 Season Champion in the very tough Hobby Stock Class. Doescher was able to hold for second ahead of Kile Vohringer.

A strong field of 19 INEX Legend Direct Legends took the green for their Season Championship main event on Saturday night. The battle up front was a good one with several drivers swapping the point position. Jeff Schmidt was able to secure the race lead as the race passed the midway point. Schmidt took the win and the 24 track point title. Cohen Henze ran second on Saturday night ahead of Michael Weber.

Cyle Hawkins finished off the 24 season in fine fashion in the Tri-City Construction 4 Stock main event. Hawkins won every main event in 24 at Maquoketa, but due to the fact he missed one night due to a wedding, he came up just short in his bid for the track point title. Jacob Welter used consistency to score the track point title. Ross Crist ran second to Hawkins on Saturday night in the Season Championship.

The next event at the the Maquoketa Speedway will be the Darkside Promotions All Star Weekend to be held Friday & Saturday September 13 & 14th. Friday night will feature the Kelly Meyer All Star Challenge which will see the IMCA Modifieds run double features. Both nights will be full nights of racing at the Maquoketa Speedway.
